Family Hotel Jupiter

I chose this hotel because of its location close to the beach and its reasonable price, not too expensive but not super cheap either. The hotel doesn’t have an elevator, so it’s a bit inconvenient if you get a room on the third floor like I did. It really feels more like a guesthouse.

The receptionist’s service was okay but not very informative. The young tall lady that attend the reception the other day refused to speak English with me, so everything was handled by my partner who speaks Bulgarian. Payment could be made via debit card, which was convenient.

The room was fine and clean, nothing special. The cleaning lady was very friendly, though it seemed like she didn’t speak English or Bulgarian, possibly not a local. The AC wasn’t very cold, and I didn’t expect the bed to be so uncomfortable, it was not soft at all. Weak running water through shower. The amenities were very minimal; there wasn’t even a kettle or coffee supplies. Although the price included breakfast (nice and yummy foods), it’s quite difficult to find standard restaurants in Balchik—most of them are high-end, and the hotel itself didn’t offer any dinner options.

The lady managing the breakfast counter was initially kind, but then she became rude. She scolded me in Bulgarian in front of other guests because I took a lot of ham (which was for myself and my partner) and accused me of planning to feed it to cats. I mean, there weren’t even any cats around! She then went on to claim that cats are pests. How dare she say something like that? I’m a paying customer, not someone eating for free!

I'm giving 1star as 0 is not an option. It was the most terrible stay we ever had. Hotel staff was unfriendly and rude. The service was horrible. At the time of the reservation we had been told (as well as in written) about free parking, which was a lie. The lady at the reception told all the guests to use paid parking wherever they want. Cleanliness was bare minimum. I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone.
