Reviews
The hotel is located within the popular brunch spot Benedict. The hotel itself basically has only the rooms and reception. Onetime the cleaning staff came to our room even though we had the ”dont disturb” sign on the door, which was obviously not ideal.
First off the rooms were above average, clean and well equipped. Front desk team was also great.
What surprised me is that the hotel basically consists of Benedict, the famous brunch place, and rooms upstairs. That’s it. No amenities, no hotel bar, no lobby, nothing. To make it worse, to get to the elevator you need to cut through the restaurant, pass a stack of extra chairs and high chairs and then take a shabby elevator. Not a great experience.
I wouldn’t have minded if this was clearly communicated on the website or anywhere at all- but it was a surprise.
Pros- cool neighborhood location, great room, inexpensive.
Cons- better like your room because that’s all you got.
The locality is nice with restaurants and cafes. The hotel has the most famous breakfast and drinks cafe on ground floor. Our room had a basketball net which was really fun thing 😎
Rooms are not huge, but good looking; colours, smell, comfy beds. Enjoyable place to stay in Berlin.
Location is also quite good, as it's not too far away from centre. Closest subway is just 6 min by foot. Airport is reachable via the railway station (5 bus stopss away).
Stayed for 3 nights but only slept on the final night. We were staying above the kitchen, facing the back exit for staff. There were building works behind our room, starting 7am Saturday morning. No info provided about this in advance. Second morning we were woken by staff using the back space, throwing out bottles etc. The ventilation system was super loud and clunky, and the windows sealant was loose so the wind screeched throughout too. Also smell of cigarettes coming through the window from staff smoking outside.
Brought it up with management and the response was, 'Oh', followed by a €60 bill for 4 drinks. Nothing more said. With rooms at €349 per night I think it was pretty disappointing.
Plus side, its a pretty place, well-decorated. Fun basketball game up on the wall, so that was cool. Otherwise, not worth the cost.
I am really disappointed at our stay at Max Brown. Poor service, and miniature rooms - we booked a room for 2 ppl and it was literally no place apart from the bed. No air-conditioning. The service in general (reception) is not very helpful, they seem to know that the place is well located and anyway popular so they do not care.
there is no hotel lobby - no place to sit down and relax outside the room. The whole space is taken by Benedict restaurant. You can not buy breakfast there in advance (when reserving the room) but you need to queue as anyone else (not a hotel guest). This restaurant is extremely popular - so everyday there are crowds outside and if you want to have breakfast quickly you should pick up another spot outside the hotel.
We checked out one night earlier - no-one asked us about the reason for that. We could not receive our invoice as well although I sent several e-mails to hotel reception and called them twice.
I do not recommend this place at this price.
