I could not attend my booking due to illness, they said they would not refund, but would assist changing the date. I says yea please and gave them alternative dates immediately. What they did was ignore the emails until the booking date happened and the booking expired so they did not have to change my dates and I just lost my money. Thanks again.
A few other things kept it from being perfect: the employees talk amongst themselves about everything/anything. Guests should not have to hear most of it, especially when it's about other guests, personal issues, internal topics. Many of the cleaning staff didn't understand English or German very well. Eager to please but mininimal language skills. But they were also very friendly. Lastly, though I think it's amazing that there is only a 3 hour window of the overall stay. I actually hate it that hotels sometimes don't allow check-in till 3p but check out is 11am. 4 hours I am not able to enjoy the room but here it was 3pm Check-in and a ***12pm*** checkout. Fantastic!!
But, what I found not cool was, even if your room was already clean when you arrived before 3pm, you had to pay an extra charge to check-in early. The charge is based on how many hours before 3pm that you wanted to check-in. That took away from the overall opinion I had of the experience, because it seems greedy. I also don't understand why that's necessary.
Overall definitely recommended but a bit of a bad taste in my mind based on "some" conversations of the employees, bacon-gate and the early check-in scandal!
The location is quite good, between two parks, perfect for a walk with my dog. And it's not far from Uban and bus. There are some good cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood.
The biggest perk of the location is that there is a zone of free street parking. It can be difficult to find a spot but it's great if you find one and park your car for a few days.
The cleaning team did a fantastic job to keep the room clean and tidy everyday, especially considering the fact that my dog sheds a lot of hair during the summer. The room feels like new everyday. However, only small complaint is that some staff don't always knock before entering the room. It happened twice during the stay.
One stupid incident which reduces the good impression of the stay is that when I asked for a bottle opener at the reception, the staff at the reception simply refused to give it to me, as he claimed that too many bottle openers had been lost. And he prefers the guests to bring the drinks downstairs to open them. I understand the annoyance of losing bottle openers but seriously, punishing all guests and removing it from all the rooms, and it's just not customer friendly to ask the guests to do extra efforts and put the guests in inconvenient situations. Who would bring drinks to the reception several times a day and even during the night? i really didn't like this unhelpful and unfriendly gesture.
Very good hotel to visit Berlin.
Great clean new odourless hotel with good access around the town. Park, pubs and stores nearby
Try get a room that's not in front of the lift as that can be noisy when loud parties say bye before heading to their rooms
