The bedding did have some stains, but since it was only on the top we couldn't be bother to ask for new bedding. I would like to leave a positive review for a&o because they were very welcoming. The staff member Abdullah helped me find a female-only room, as it turned out that my booking was for a mixed room, which I do not prefer. I really appreciate his assistance and friendly service. The place also feels very safe and well-secured, which made my stay even more comfortable.

I stayed two nights. One in a female shared room and a second in a private room. It is a regular hostel where things work as it normally do. I do not like that there were black spots in the shower, looking like mold. I do not like that the usb ports in the beds did not work. Good and clean accommodation. They cabines are small but you have everything you need and it‘s well soundproof. Good value for money for the room. I wanna mention the breakfast. Very nicely located, walking distance to almost everything. Nice room but the beds were hard and the pillows were very thin and you only got one so it was hard sleeping comfortably. But other than that it was nice. Breakfast was great and everyone can find something to eat.

Highly impressive COVID-19 breakfast routine. There is no self-service, everything is picked from the buffet by a lady who is careful and attentive to pick everything you want — and still she manages to keep everything going without too much of a queue building.

Had the cheapest room, the room was good quality. Check in was fast and simple. Only stayed for one night and had to leave before breakfast service started so didn't get to try that.

I've stayed in several 4-star hotels that weren't nearly as good as the ibis Hamburg Alster City. It's a mystery to me why it only gets 2 stars. The friendliness at reception, the well-chilled beer, the rooms and their amenities, and the price are top-notch.

the rooms are alright, kitchen is available so thats helpful. staff is helpful, but due to another customer's fault i had to wait a long time for checking in. they could improve the interiors. walls are way too thin and everything can be heard from the other rooms. all in all, its an okay hostel for a night or two.

After two years of constant postponing to pandemical reasons we finally made it. Friendly rooms and clean staff (or was it the other way around?) and midnight Nutella bread rolls with fresh beer made us feel like at home. Just without cats.

Stayed here for 3 days. Family, that run this hotel, were very friendly and helpful. Room was perfectly clean. But it was a bit cold, especially in the bathroom- I guess here the fees for heating are quite high 😪 shouldn’t forget they had tough time during this pandemic. Great location: five minutes to the town hall, the Reeperbahn, the Dom or the Portuguese quarter. Reception is only open until Noon, and then you get a key from the vending machine. Very large rooms, nice and clean. Food, both for the included breakfast and for lunch/dinner is quite good, which is good because there is very little else within walking distance. If you arrive on Sunday (which is pretty typical for business trips), you will have to call someone to come let you in and give you your key.

A supergod hotel! The staff is very nice and so helpful! The room was very good cleaned and almost newly renovated 🤩 it was very cheap and you they had some free parking lots. You’ll also receive access to a very fresh kitchen with microwave, oven and much much more!!! They also had fridges (and a small freezer) in the room! If you want to visit Hamburg use this hotel!

No one at reception but there was a note with a phone number, manager arrived after two or three minutes. Good sized room, good bathroom but no shampoo. Fridge in the room, well equipped shared kitchen a couple of metres away and free tea and coffee. Suited me very well except that the WiFi was a bit slow.
