Stayed at this 4 star hotel only to get poisoned by the food at the buffet. I was sick for 3 days vomiting and diarrhea. The safe in the room didn’t work for 2 days so we couldn’t get the room cleaned. Water leaking from the shower- absolutely absurd. And the two times I ordered tea to the room because I was feeling sick, it was delivered cold. Food is not great, rooms are very old fashioned, and I wouldn’t stay here again! We had to book here again because of a flight delay and the staff would not even try to accommodate us or make up for the sub-par service. It’s a shame because the only good thing about the hotel is the lobby and friendly staff in the lobby.

It’s a good location with a lot of great amenities. The staff was caring and helpful. Yaira Vizcaino was attentive at checkout and everyone was very professional. The hotel is a bit old school without streaming services but other than that it was great.

I had a wonderful stay at Barcelo! The staff was incredibly welcoming, and I have to give a special shoutout to Amalia Ortiz and Karolay Vazquez for their outstanding service. They were both attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The amenities were great, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was inviting. My only complaint was the bathroom lighting-it was a bit dim, making it difficult to get ready in the morning. A little improvement there would make the experience even better!
Other than that, everything was top-notch, and I'd definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

This hotel is absolutely fantastic, the service is amazing and the location is perfect. The amenities provided are beyond exceptional, the service is wonderful and the pool is shallow but good. The food is absolutely amazing rather than leaving the hotel we would eat inside since everything was delicious, even the breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Santo Domingo.

We had a wonderful time staying at this hotel. The location is excellent and allows easy access to the city. The hotel itself is modern, well kept and clean. We had particularly excellent service from Lisbeth Aries who went the extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect. The service provided by her is the main reason for writing this review. When I next visit Santo Domingo I will definitely be staying here.

The room is relatively large, and the table/mats are good; the bathroom conditions are relatively poor, and the quality of paper towels needs to be improved.

The room smelled musty, and then I sprayed a lot of perfume to cover up the musty smell. I felt that the front desk discriminated against Chinese people. They first arranged a room next to the equipment room for me. The room was very noisy. I took a video and sent it to the front desk, and then they helped me change it. I didn't see the room types for different floors written on the hotel elevator until the day of check-out. I booked a superior room type, which is on the 7th floor, but they didn't give me this floor at all. They also lied to me that their standard room is a superior room. For the first time, they arranged the worst location for me. It's a scam hotel. I strongly recommend that people who go here don't book this hotel

It's a very old hotel. The lobby feels great, but the decoration in the room is old and the smell is very obvious. The air conditioner is too strong and the sound is loud. The chairs in the room are dark and a bit dirty. The only advantage is that the bath water pressure is very high and comfortable. The food in the Kyoto restaurant on the first floor tastes good and is close to the taste of Asian cuisine. There are almost no people dining in the restaurant. The price is not expensive but the waiting time is very long. The traffic in front of the hotel is very congested.

Our stay did not start well since we arrived around 1:30 p.m. and the manager wanted us to wait until 3:00 p.m. before accessing the room. Then, when we went up at 3 p.m., there was a foul smell in the room and we had to contact reception to send staff to clean it. Looks like someone had just left the room. He should normally leave the room empty for 24 hours between guests for hygienic reasons. Bad surprise with a fridge full of alcoholic drinks to potentially tempt customers to spend tens of dollars. The internet was constantly failing and the toilet flushing became faulty. The positive points: they offer everything at breakfast and the swimming pool is great.
