Located near the shore (there is no beach due to pollution) the hotel has the normal ammenities of a Renaissance hotel. The restaurant is quite average, they do have live music and events like taco nights, but food is average. Breakfast service has good options available including an egg station. The hotel is located close to most casino-hotels close to the commercial area, and a short drive away from old town.

Made a group reservation here for over 25 people. The booking was very seamless compared to other hotels in the area and the staff was very accommodating when we arrived early for check-in. The rooms were very clean. I am pleased with the hotel and the amenities.

Highly recommend this hotel! From the moment we arrived at the airport we were greeted by our driver Jose “Richard” and he was AMAZING!! He was very professional and kind. Drove us everywhere we wanted to go and kept us safe! Ask for him if you are looking for a trusted driver that is very knowledgeable about the area. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by live music and a very friendly staff. The service was a 10/10. The pool area was perfect and my children had a blast! The piña coladas were great as well! Room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable! Hotel is centrally located in “El Malecon” and close to many tourist attractions in the city. The view of the ocean is beautiful! The casino looked like a lot of fun however we did not get to enjoy it as we traveled with children. Will definitely be staying here again when we return!

Hidden charges, dated rooms with stains and visible damages throughout, wasn’t advised of valet fee in advance although we tipped multiple guys during our stay that far exceeded that amount, unaccommodating management, slow front desk staff, called and asked for towels twice and they brought water.
Lobby was nice and lobby staff overall was pleasant and welcoming although we overheard one of them saying “oh they’re only staying one night” in Spanish to another staff. Why does that matter and need to be loudly announced as we’re walking by?
Casino was enjoyable.
Pool was flooded was kids jumping and splashing guests (not a place for adult relaxation) more for family’s.
Pool didn’t really look like the photos.
I was excited to stay near the beach/Malecon this time but unfortunately my experience was ruined due to management.
The JW Marriott Santo Domingo was 100 times better than the Renaissance if you’re a Bonvoy Member. The rooms are nice, staff is friendlier, management is much more pleasant and accommodating, food at the restaurant is amazing and the location is much better being connected to a mall.

Let me start by saying “Bravo!” This was a great stay. I was solo traveler from the USA and felt completely safe. Every one were help full. The casino was fun, the staff was all helpful and all the amenities were great. I’ll definitely stay again

One of the best experiences in Santo Domingo.
Great service from start to finish, comfortable and modern rooms with very compelling tariff.
Plenty of parking with front and back street access.
Beautiful spaces to relax and enjoy.
Many eating and snacking options for visitors.
And, of course, one of the best casino experiences in town.

We had a wonderful stay here with our two small kids. The hotel was in a beautiful location along the sea (our room had a partial sea view), the service was stellar, and the pool, restaurant, and fitness center are excellent. We especially appreciated Alexander’s help and service at the front desk. He was fantastic and even helped me call my rental car company to ask them a question I had in Spanish.

Very good hotel with good service. Food was pretty standard but very delicious. The bathrooms in the rooms were gorgeous, and the bed was comfy, although the rooms were a bit dated in comparison to the rooms at similar priced Marriott hotels. The pictures of the outdoor space don’t do it justice, it’s absolutely stunning. There was always enough seats by the pool and the service was great during the day. You have to cross a busy street with no designated crosswalks to get to the ocean and the shore is quite rocky and full of garbage (sad), so if that’s important to you, you might want to reconsider. That being said, we stayed here as opposed to an all inclusive and feel like we had a pretty great experience in comparison to all inclusive we’ve been to before. I would definitely recommend to anyone to stay here when in Santo Domingo!

Was much better than I expected - great value! The Service here is amazing. Love the executive lounge and the different ethnic food served each night. The food at the pool was also a great value with a variety of options. The Location is perfect for exploring Santo Domingo and less than 30 minutes from nice beaches.
