Hodelpa Caribe Colonial

I had stayed here before the pandemic about 3 times. The property is very clean, it is located in the older "colonial" part of the city. Traffic in this area is a nightmare due to the narrow streets. SAFE area, police presence all over.




The GOOD: Clean, Safe, Staff Friendly, plenty of places nearby to eat. Breakfast supplied is ample and of decent quality, food for linch or dinner in the hotel restaurant is good though limited menu, space for seating is very limited inside the restaurant, water pressure in the shower is excellent the room safe is large. The BAD: Room Small like an IBIS, Bathroom smaller than an IBIS, A/C in my room was "marginal" at best and previous stays here noticed this, Elevator very slow, the worst part this is not a business hotel. While the Internet provided is decent, there is NO work space available at all in the rooms. NO electrical outlets available all are hidden behind furniture or the bed and no desk type area. Had to charge my phone in the bathroom outlet and use computer on battery. Also had a room phone and minor toilet issue which I reported twice and nothing was done. DO NOT have the hotel arrange for the hotel taxi to drive you to the airport cost is $50.oo ! Make your own arrangements or get an UBER. CONCLUSION: While on vacation for a couple of days this is a Nice place to stay and see the colonial sights and enjoy the atmosphere. However, "on business" this is not the place to stay. I will be returning on business for a longer stay in late January or early February, unfortunately I will have to stay elsewhere.

Great location in the center of the city and walking distance to fabulous restaurants and very lively, good energy. The rooms were clean and the staff very friendly and helpful! I will definitely stay here again, my only issue was the spotty Internet service. Other than that unresolved issue, I enjoyed a great safe space.

Everything was wonderful. You can go up to the terrace Solarium for a better view of the city. Staff are very attentive especially housekeeping and in the dining room. The complimentary breakfast is delightful 😊

Excellent customer service, great location, great breakfast selection, beds truly comfortable, clean. Staff is superb, they will make you feel at home. Be nice and treat them with respect as well. They will go the extra mile to make you feel at home. My mom got sick and they brought some special tea made of natural fruits and honey. (Mylkeya and Angela are amazing )She felt amazing after that. From the chefs and restaurants staff to the front desk and Even security, I can only say thank you. I will definitely go back again. They have a gym across the street, and if you are looking to relax in the pool, you get access to the Hodelpa Nicolás de Ovando hotel, for a fee which pretty much applies to what you eat or drink while you spend the day tanning) the staff is also very nice there. In case you need to go somewhere Hodelpa will call a cab/taxi for you. Apolo taxi is one of the oldest taxi companies, but Uber is good as well. Be wise, ask the hotel to contact a taxi always ask how much they will charge you. By the way. There are many restaurants around, there is a néw brewery restaurante and a Mexican right a across. Pizza, Italian, Jalao, and some others only a few blocks away. RUM museum, Cacao factory and so much more. Relax, eat, drink and Have fun!!!’

Central location to all museums and restaurants. Very walkable location, no need for car. Stayed in honeymoon suite. It was gorgeous… double jacuzzi was my favorite. Staff at hotel and restaurant were wonderful and very accommodating. Will visit again

Front desk was very helpful by charging my cell phone a few times because I somehow forgot my charging cord at home. WiFi was very good!

My stayed at Hodelpa Caribe Colonial was short and sweet. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the colonial zone across the street from La Republica Brewery and Nacho Libre (small Mexican restaurant selling the best loaded nachos in the area). The hotel has parking and a restaurant located in the first floor lobby. The restaurant is open from 7 am to 10 pm. I didn’t get to order dinner but on my last day I had breakfast (local food) and it was really good. My room was on the second floor ( royal room category) facing the street and it has a nice balcony where you can sit and relax while enjoying a glass of wine or a nice cold presidente (local beer). The room has a mini fridge stocked with water bottles, different types of drinks and liquor, it also has a tray with some snacks. Keep in mind that you have to pay for these things if you used them. But you do get a complimentary bottle of water a day. The staff is very nice, helpful and attentive.I felt safe at all times. I’ll definitely stay here again.
