Reviews
Rooms are spacious but the space can be utilized more efficiently. Lighting, carpets and furniture need an upgrade.
Breakfast can be made much more enjoyable if it was not set out in the blazing heat with only a few umbrellas to shade it and then to the food doesn't hold up well.
The staff on the other hand were extremely helpful and cheerful, especially the house keeping ladies.
+ beautiful building and rooms
+ rooftop view and groundfloor is beautiful
+ cool and fast elevator
+ staff is overall nice and most of them are helpful
- we had to ask 3 times for the air conditioner: first, they said they will fix it, but they did not come back. Then we called, they said somebody will come, no one came. Then we went down again, to ask for help. Then they came to our room, saw the problem and told us, they will fix it. They didn't come back. In the end, we got a new room on the same floor. The new room was smaller, but nice too.
- Some things should be fixed: the doorhandle almost broke off or the carpet on the stairs to walk on is a bit dangerous, especiallf for people with walking problems.
about the breakfast: we ate food after 10am, by this time the food started to look dry because of the sun (it's on the rooftop). Some of it tasted good. Also, the waiters sometimes forget to bring you water, since there isn't a water station.
But in the end you are full.
It's a 100 year old building so expecting some nuances is only logical.
Would come back again for sure.
The toilets need maintenance!
Helpful team and we got welcome drinks with french desserts.
The rooftop was amazing, and not expensive at all!
The location is perfect to access downtown.
Probably the best location you can get in Alexandra.. to top it up, the hotel is well managed and maintained heritage property. The old school elevator is one of the highlights, the roof top restaurant with views being the other. Everything is extremely accessible from this place - all tourist attractions, popular cafes & restaurants, transportation spots.
You can even hail a local shared van plying continuously across the shoreline in either direction - very convenient and extremely economical.
Breakfast was elaborate, staff was great, good views from the balcony, large room and bathroom. Great value for money, especially given the season we visited (~$70/n in Jan'24).
Would definitely go back there whenever I re-visit.
PS: They even offer a high tea with wine and snacks - a great value add.
The hotel is decorated in a very nice vintage style.
From the entrance we got so nice welcoming from Ukraine girl, she was so nice and helpful during the stay
Room was very nice so clean and everything was available in the room.
Breakfast in roof top was amazing with the nice view , many choices
Also at evening amazing atmosphere.
I will recommend this hotel to all because it’s worth it. 🥰
Negative side:
Room lack of wall power outlets and there is ine elevator only.
The food is amazing. They also serve evening snacks complimentary which is also a wide-spread menu.
Rooftop restaurant is cherry on the cake and probably best poster view of the town.
