Due to a medical emergency, I couldn’t travel on my original flight, but I contacted the hotel directly to inform them of my late arrival. They confirmed over the phone that this was absolutely fine and that my room would be available.
However, shortly after, they cancelled my entire booking without warning and marked it as a “no-show,” despite already being told I’d be arriving late. When EasyJet Holidays contacted them on my behalf, they confirmed my booking was still valid , but when I rang the hotel again minutes later, they told me it was cancelled. Total contradiction.
When trying to sort this with the hotel they have since refused all responsibility, claiming they didn’t get paid, while I’m left completely out of pocket for a holiday I fully intended to go on.
The attitude and lack of accountability from this hotel have been absolutely shocking. There was zero compassion, zero transparency, and no willingness to help just blame-shifting and excuses. They are now just ignoring my email leaving me in the unknown. The lack of customer service has also been appalling trying to gas light me into thinking the phone call I have proof of never happened confirming my booking.
This was not just an inconvenience; it was a complete loss of a holiday I paid for, during an already stressful time. I would never book here again, and I’ll be warning others to do the same.
The manager came across as very unfriendly, and the pool area was poorly maintained. The sunbeds were old, worn out, and uncomfortable, and instead of grass around the pool, there was just bare, dirty soil.
The only positive experience was with the entertainment and restaurant staff — they were genuinely polite and helpful. Sadly, that was the only highlight. For the price paid, this hotel offered very poor value. I wouldn’t recommend it.
If value for money is a consideration I doubt you will find better value in Marbella. (This is a resort rather than a hotel). The rooms are in buildings dotted around the swimming pools and alleyways, like a Spanish pueblo. The rooms are spotless, with balconies, Wi-Fi and wicker furniture. Rustic/cosy ! The food is varied, Spanish/Andalusian style with a great choice of menu, buffet style.

Well located for public transport and the beach, the resort is a 25minute walk from the gorgeous Marina. Blue Bay Banus allows exposure to a very attractive part of Marbella at an excellent price.

Stayed: 3rd–7th April
We had a fantastic time at BlueBay Banus! I flew out with my family for a short break, and we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The staff were absolutely lovely—friendly, helpful, and always welcoming. The hotel and grounds were very clean and well maintained, which made a great impression from the start.
The location is excellent, with easy access to local attractions, shops, and the beach. While the hotel is slightly tired in places and could benefit from a bit of TLC, it didn’t take away from our experience at all. It has a charming feel, and everything we needed was right there.
All in all, a great place for a relaxed and enjoyable family holiday. We’ll 100% be returning!
Massive sea gulls everywhere; around both swimming pools & they are constantly floating around/taking showers in the pool. (Might have something to do with people leaving food around the pool & no staff taking it away, so it’s basically a buffet for the birds.)
It is allowed to smoke at the breakfast outside seating area, which looked and smelled like an airport smoking lounge. So if you don’t like to suffocate at breakfast, you need to sit indoors & you cannot enjoy the sunshine together with your breakfast.
Coffee machine is an instant powder one..
Coffee and tea in the room is one free pack upon arrival, if you would like to have it replenished it comes at an additional cost, per day.
The swimming pool area is supposed to be covered in real grass; but it’s so run down that there’s mostly just dark sand left, leading to dirty feet and a dirty swimming pool.
The hotel feels very busy and everyone is on top of you, grass around the big pool is horrible under foot and sun beds are ancient, uncomfortable and hard to find as people reserve them and then disappear. The smaller pool is nicer but has no amenities nearby and has very limited space.
Breakfast is one of the worst I’ve had a hotel, fried eggs either cremated or raw, boiled eggs were black, everything poor quality.
Rooms are basic, aircon does the bare minimum but rooms are somewhat better than the communal areas.
On a positive, the reception staff are nice and friendly. The hotel is also pretty cheap by Marbella standards but there are other hotels at a similar price (or slightly more) that are a lot better.
