Reviews
However, there were two things with my room I did not like. There were same ants coming through the floor. And I don't understand why the shower/bathroom has no wall and no curtain. No privacy at all. I don't understand these open concepts...
Good stay in a nice and comfortable place.
Ocean view, walk under pine trees, swimming pool, beaches...
The rooms were however, clean and well maintained by the staff. The cleaning and maintenance staff are on point.
The front desk is usually your only option that will speak english if you need anything and they are always helpful.
Unfortunately the refrigerator is about impossible to use in the room since the cleaning staff comes in and turns off the electricity everyday.
The food is of good quality and is prepared well. It's not anything fancy and won't be winning any culinary awards but it's perfectly acceptable.
The restaurant on the beach, la gaviota is a step up.
If you are coming on vacation with kids, this seems like a great place.
If you are traveling alone with work or single, it may be a bit annoying to you. The only bar that serves food and drink is right next to the kiddy pool. KIDS EVERYWHERE.
There is a "beach club " that is meant to be adults only at the resort. They don't however serve drinks up there, so you have to walk down to the kiddy pool to get a cocktail.
The staff down at the pool are always busy and overworked. It may take some time to get service but they are friendly and take great care of you once you get their attention.
The location is absolutely beautiful, the beach is literally right outside the hotel.
It you turn left out of the hotel and walk down the beach a bit to the first bar you find, sit down and get a drink!! If coral is bartending you are in luck.
I have had more than a few great nights there with some really friendly people. When you get away from the resort, people are a lot nicer to english speakers.
All and all this is a good place to stay for the price. If you know what to expect, you can enjoy your stay here.
I have stayed at their sister hotel and recommend if available.
What We Loved:
• Exceptional Food: The food was hands down the best we've ever had at a hotel. The spare ribs were especially delicious!
• Environment: The entire hotel was very clean and well-maintained.
• Comfortable & Clean Rooms: Our room was comfortable, clean, and met all our needs.
• Friendly Staff: The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
• Great Location: The hotel's proximity to the beach was perfect for enjoying the beautiful coastline.
• Modern Amenities: We appreciated having a modern Smart TV in our room.
• Live Music: The live music performances by Emilio Campos were a real highlight!
Areas for Improvement:
• Room Variation: While our room was nice, some rooms seem to require renovation with potentially outdated furniture and maintenance needs.
• Cocktail Variety: A wider selection of cocktails would be great, although we did enjoy the Black Caipirinha!
• Engaging Activities for Children: The kids' club could benefit from more engaging activities to encourage even shy children to participate.
• Language Support: While we always found a way to communicate, some staff members spoke limited English or German.
• Entertainment Scheduling: The timing of the entertainment program could be improved to avoid overlapping with meal times. Additionally, it felt a bit short.
• Information in English: Having English translations available for menus and other services would be helpful for non-Spanish speakers.
• Pool Loungers: The limited space for setting up loungers could be addressed. Additionally, it would be beneficial to have a system to prevent loungers from being reserved with towels for extended periods if unused.
• Themed Nights: A Spanish night with traditional music and dancers would be a fantastic addition to the entertainment program.
• Sunscreen Availability: A wider variety of sunscreens available at the pool would be convenient.
• Off-Season Activities: While we enjoyed our stay, it would be good to have a more established entertainment program planned for times outside of major sporting events.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Hotel Playa de la Luz and would highly recommend it! These suggestions are simply ways to make an already great hotel even better.
