Hotel Chabrol Opera

I had the worst experience with this hotel. The owner or whoever responds on his behalf is so rude that it is borderline verbal insult. He doesn't really care about anything but money, and I don't know how he is still in business. A close family member of mine died and I could not keep my travel dates, I politely communicated with him while grieving and frankly still in shock, I had to chase the hotel for an answer, as he took ages to reply and when he did it was 'well, you lost your booking, but give us new dates', which I couldn't do because this was the last thing on my mind in the circumstances - obviously!!! We spoke on the phone when I pleaded with him to give me time to come up with new dates, I was happy to pay extra - all I got back was insults.

I am glad I never went because if they treat customers like that before they even stay there, imagine what you can expect once you are there!?

Place was clean and staff was nice. Unfortunately during summer it's really hot, there's no fan on the rooms, it's definitely not a hotel during summer time.

Location is easy to find from gare du north and there's some stores and restaurant around so it's pretty much fine.

Reason for low star is cause I had to drink about 8 bottles of water a day during my stay due to no fans. The temperature of 30c in Paris during summer is no good for a room.

Staff was nice and they understood English just fine unlike most places in Paris who doesn't understand it much.

Bed bugs bed bugs bed bugs!

Stay away from this disgusting hotel. My partner and I saw bed bugs on our last night and we got bit. We spoke to the gentleman downstairs and he said to send an email to a manager. A few days later my partner had a severe allergic reaction where we had to go to the hospital to get antibiotics.

I wrote 2 emails to this so called "manager" and we have heard nothing back.

Normal and good managers would atleast reach back out and apologize, but nothing from them at all. Not even after I have sent photos of the allergy and the bugs we killed on the bed.

I would NOT recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.

Room too small but clean, the toilet door doesn't open more than 30cm!! The hotel seems having been renewed recently, but they could have cared more about details. I'll probably avoid coming a 2nd time here.

Cramped Micro Hostel Billed as Quaint Hotel Room.

What a rip off. My room had a small bed as many have noted, which is not a bug deal. However: the view was garbage, there was no fridge, the bathroom door was a barn door that overhung the already narrow opening, which meant that I (all of 150 pounds) had to squeeze through sideways. God help you if you’re a woman or an average sized human. Once in the bathroom, the toiletries were balanced on the incredibly small sink in such a way as to wash your hands or attempt to remove one would spill them all onto the sink or floor. It’s so close to the train station you can hear a rumbling like cannons being fired in the distance once or twice an hour. In the stairwell one of the railings was broken, which I felt was par for the course. You could pay $40 for this place and it would be an OK deal. Anything above is highway robbery; it’s not a great location either. I will say the water pressure was great, and the staff was nice (but the maitre d’ couldn’t break a $10 for 1.88 city tax, and the vending machine wasn’t working, so I was asked to go around the corner to buy a beer so that I could then pay the tax).
