Selina Theatrou Hostel
Athens, Plateia Theatrou 18 Athina 105 52 🧭 Map
The views from some of the rooms and the Rooftop are amazing. You get to see the Acropolis. The Rooftop parties can be very noisy. The kitchen is not well stocked for cooking or even eating a meal. I could not find any silverware. The rooms are clean. Bring your own lock for your locker. It is a tight fit above your bed. There are some private parties on the roof which you'll have to pay to attend...
Rooms are very spacious, service was good, and there's a great rooftop bar that has amazing views of the Acropolis. They do a great breakfast as well. The only issue with a great rooftop bar and it being a mixture of private rooms and hostel style accommodation is that there is a DJ every night so if you're not a party person and wanting a quiet night's sleep, you might struggle! Our taxi driver warned...
Odd place. The rooms were truly excellent but no one cleans them when you are still staying over. The rooftop bar is a party scene and VERY loud but at least it stops by midnight. The breakfast is a waste. You only get three fixed choices and each day even the same one differed. Not worth the price. I love Greek breakfasts when they are buffet style. The service …. Seemed to be run by disinterested...
We had the private room with own bathroom, so it's a different experience than most I am sure. But the room and bathroom was great. No tv but not needed as there's much to see around town. AC worked well and shower had great water pressure with hot and cold option. Cons: not the best area but it's literally only a few blocks to the good parts, the shower head needs to be held to use if anyone is picky...
Great location, looks edgy but it is not unsafe. We got a 4-bed room w a private bathroom. Was not cleaned once during the 4 nights we stay there. Rooftop bar could be noisy, but the views are great. And the management at the bar is amazing, also the bartenders! Don’t pay for breakfast, not worth it.
Amazing view with small balcony. Good location and nice value for money. The rooftop is a bit pricy but nice staff. Unfortunately the rooms all have heavy doors that close super loudly so you always hear who gets home when :/

Athens Hawks Hostel
Athens, 25 Menandrou 🧭 Map
I enjoyed my stay here, the rooms are nice and ensuite relatively clean. The only thing is the room are very cold (you have to go to reception to get a blanket/remote for A/C) and don’t come with a curtain - I would suggest a female only room rather than mixed. The area also isn’t the best, I didn’t feel super safe and refrained from walking outside when it got dark. I met some lovely people here though
We stayed there for 3 nights end of June. There’s always someone at the reception if you need anything, which is really helpful. The rooftop bar is amazing, we met lovely people. The room and the bathroom were very clean. Beds are comfortable. There are big lockers in the room. We didn’t have any mini fridge in the room, but I know some did have one. The emplacement is great, near to the acropolis...
I had a great stay in a bunk room for my 4 days in Athens. The rooftop bar has an amazing view of both the Acropolis and the sunset (and so much more.) The staff was friendly and chill while maintaining a nice space for everyone to be. And it was close to the metro, a short walk to amazing restaurants, and a lot of both nightlife and daytime activities nearby. I will definitely come back whenever I...
My stay at The Hawks was truly wonderful and heartwarming! I absolutely loved my room—it was cozy, spotless, and the service was excellent. The entire hostel was very clean and well-maintained. The location couldn’t be better: right in downtown, close to all the coolest spots.
Everyone I met was incredibly friendly and polite, which made the experience even more special. I had so much fun, especially...
Very clean, nice rooms for a good price. It's not too far from attractions like the Acropolis and museums. I paid for a private room but still found that I could hear people late at night in the hallway. So the sound barrier between room and hallway wasn't great. Other than that it's a very nice hostel!
Great location. Couple blocks away from the super touristy areas which makes finding cheap, delicious, local places to eat very easy.
Private room was large very clean and had a huge balcony. Very affordable.
Rooftop bar was quite large and had great views of the acropolis and the whole city.
Breakfast buffet was yummy and affordable. Staff were friendly. Highly recommend this hostel.

The small balcony in the room is nice, the rooftop terrace is also very good, the staff are very nice, the location is also very convenient, and it is very cost-effective.
Clean and sanitary, not too big but sufficient, with small windows for ventilation.
Near for center 15 minutes by walking
Good value for money! This is my third stay this month. All the staff are very friendly and helpful! A true 24-hour front desk, and the front desk is patient and meticulous. My husband and I are not English-speaking, but they helped us solve our problems, such as printing our boarding passes and storing our luggage. The cleaning staff are very responsible, and sometimes they clean the public bathroom...
Good hostel, close to city centr. Market, grocerie stores and shops are nearby as well
The best experience lies in its refrigerator, which makes them special from any other similar hostels in Athens. Considering the price, everything is theoretically Impeccable, beds are good, bathrooms are good, air-conditioning is good, staff are dood.

It`s very old hotel. Close to metro station. Also you can go by foot to the center city, it`s about one kilometer. Bed clothes and towels are old but clean. In my room there was broken shower, so water was on the floor, and wet air.
Customar service are excellent.
In good for backpackers ,walking distance from national railways (OSE),AND VERY CLOSE to metro station
The area is so so but you have very close the police station so it's ok
The room is not bad for such a price. But, be prepared for the stairs as there is no elevator.
Well, the bathroom... It's an old hotel!
The receptionist is not really welcoming and not friendly.
An old building but little far from central/metro station by walk but you can go for this considering the budget offering and staff is really helpful
Nice place good price very good service ppl were very kind. The location is litle bit far from the center of athenes- about 15-20 min walk from the center or 10 min in metro

+ Staff was very friendly, towels were provided, room and bathroom were very clean, close to subway, 10 min. walk to Akropolis, airconditioning and wifi works well, the rooftop (terrace) was a fun area with jacuzzi, pool in basement - Very tiny rooms, kind of dangerous to fall out of the top bunk bed, horrible breakfast, no closet This hostel is fine for traveling students, but not made for family...

Very interesting place to stay. Modern rooms and beds and everything. But I don't know why, when I've been there it was really dirty. Also photos on the site don't show how is it in real. Don't expect for something really special.
Lovely hostel with great visitors and staff. Beds are comfortable, the noise outdoors is quiet, and the hostel has a great atmosphere for meeting people. Extended my stay here by 5 days for the reasons above.
Location was perfect, everything nearby. Met very kind and generous people here. Will definitely live there again!

Dear all,
It is embarrassing for me to see all those illusory and unreal negative comments regarding the Hostel, just heartbroken!
I hereby, highly appreciate all the services they are providing for the refugees who doesn't even pay a Cent. This so kind of them! Their generosity, kindness and good behavior is well appreciated. Thumbs up!
Its around 25 days which I am staying in welcommon hostel, the staff are so kind and friendly, its so clean and cheap, they have prepared many classes for our children, it is in a the centeral of Athens.
once you see then its difficult to leave it. Heartfelt hanks to all guys in Welcommon team for their efforts and well behaved manner and providing reasonable services!

It's a safe and friendly place! It's also very clean! The location is perfect! I only have one complaint with my room door, the lock was a bit noisy, but it can be quickly fixed with a little adjustment.
Our family of 4 stayed in a family room for 3 nights before a cruise. We planned to to be out touring all day and we just needed a clean, reasonably priced place to sleep in Athens.
Positives -

The best hostel I’ve stayed at so far! The location is excellent—right in the city center and in a pretty safe neighborhood, so you can enjoy a night out and return to the hostel without any stress (a big plus as a female solo traveler). Fantastic place to stay for a couple of nights. Your own room with a private bathroom and shower, fresh sheets everyday if you want them, the reception was very nice and helpful, you can even keep your bags there if you are checked out but exploring the city. Communal living area and kitchen were a great perk and more amenities than we expected. Location is fantastic.
“My stay at City Circus was made unforgettable thanks to the wonderful Greek receptionist. From the moment I walked in, they greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel right at home. The environment is very good. The best youth hostel I have ever stayed in in Europe.
The location is very convenient, the room and restaurant are spacious. The front desk service is great and nice. It is very convenient to get to the Acropolis, museums and other attractions.
All was good and pleasant especially the cleanliness of the hostel.
The mattress is supportive, the bathroom is stylish, the service guys are very friendly. Strongly recommend this hostel.I gave it five stars.
Very good, the room is clean and sanitary, the location is very good, very close to the Acropolis. The breakfast here is average, 6 or 7 euros, and does not include drinks. I personally think it is not worth it, but most of the surrounding areas are this price.
A guest house with a very convenient location when sightseeing in Athens.
The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful.
The facility facilities are very neat and clean.
There are spacious spaces where you can relax, such as the rooftop terrace and the cafe on the first floor!

Safestay Monastiraki Hostel
Athens, Agias Theklas 10 🧭 Map
I had a wonderful stay at this hostel. It was clean and centrally located, making it easy to explore the city. The view was absolutely stunning and made my experience even more memorable. Would recommend to anyone visiting Athens!
Spent three nights in this great hostel. Very good value. The rooms are nice and there's free WiFi. It's in a great location. It's a two minute walk from monastiraki metro station, just across the street, which meant I could get from the airport practically to the hostel door. There are loads of restaurants nearby and I walked very easily from the hostel to the northern entrance of the acropolis site
Lovely staff, lovely breakfast and lovely people in the room. It was just a little tight for six girls, but we all managed around each other. The downside to such small rooms is that you have to pack in the corridor to prevent waking people up. You cannot beat the area though!
I would like to mention the wonderful staff. The people working there are wonderful, very kind, helpful, give complete information about everything you need, always smiling. They help, even if there are no vacancies with them, for elementary, but very important things, and they approach with extreme respect. The location is very close to Monastiraki Square, the quality-price ratio is completely proportional...
Mid-sized hotel / Hostel on the edge of Athens city centre ( Old Town).
Official category unknown stars. We give 1 stars.
Reception lady was fast and friendly.
A shared room for six cost 130 euros per night. Towel rental 3 euros extra.
The room was a bit worn out and not the cleanest. The bathroom was in very poor condition.
There is a lobby for leisure activities and luggage storage in the basement...
The location is very close to a main square and many streets lined with restaurants, also walkable to important sites. The location also provides a nice view from the rooftop bar (see the photo). The location is great! I marked the it low because being so central and close to all the main restaurants and bars also meant that there were extremely loud drunk people yelling in the street all night long...

We arrived at 00:50 and desperately needed a place to stay since the check-in for our real stay was a lot later. This Hostel took us in at this spontaneous time and was really friendly and comforting. English was not a problem. VERY VERY CHEAP! (simple breakfast and WiFi included) The rooms aren't the luxurious type, but you do get a place to stay and for one night like in our case it was sufficient...
The staff here were all helpful and really pleasant to work with. We slept well in rooms that were kept clean and ordered. The food was simple and varied and fresh, with fruit, olives, eggs and toast. As everyone has said, it was an excellent location for exploring Athens. Do not listen to the other negative reviews. This is a satisfactory and comfortable place to stay.
Wonderful central location to walk around Athens. I stayed in a single for privacy etc. The room is appropriate for the price, simple small space, cramped bathroom. The hot water was hot, the bed was reasonable. If you're a larger person the shower might be uncomfortably small. The suggestion to eat at Thanasis, a kebab restaurant nearby was great (order the yogurt kebab).
Very friendly staff, included breakfast, cosy room with own bathroom and ac. Very smooth bedsheets. Squeaky bed. Overall a very nice stay for the price. No elevator tho. It is perfect if you dont expect absolute perfection. I enjoyed the stay here.
Great location and great staffs. It's 5 min walk from restaurants and metro. Internet can be a problem. Really slow sometimes. Noise all the time because the street. Toilets need renovation.
Great, inexpensive choice for staying in Plaka. The rooms were clean and they serve free breakfast in the morning. This isn't a 5-star hotel by any means but it is nice for a hostel. My 2-person room with a double bed had its own bathroom.

Beautiful hostel. Really clean and the team were super friendly and kind. The courtyard is a great little spot to sit with a book and relax after a day out. Thank you so much!
It was fine for my purposes but it was very noisy with no sound insulation at all. You hear everything from the other rooms and the area outside your door. For me, the location was perfect, within easy walking distance to where I needed to be. There are nice coffee shops nearby. It’s a hostel, not a hotel, adjust expectations accordingly.
This is an awesome hostel, not too big. Lovely staff and a really cool area. If you're looking for somewhere super close to the tourist attractions, this is maybe not for you as it is about 15 minutes from the centre. It's got a great social life in the communal area.
I would make sure you're not a light sleeper as noise travels easily in this place. You will hear all the doors closing anywhere inside
My room in the yard was damp, unfortunately. There was an unpleasant smell due to the humidity.

Good place - I spent 3 month here. The Italian guy work so hard and Yannis the Greek guy is so friendly and welcomingDamet the Turkish is nice and friendly. Overall a good place, I would recommend for cheap place to rent
I catch some small bugs from the bed here - it’s so unclean and the reception refuse to move me. The bugs are attacking my body. I paid for my stay here and they refuse to give me different bed even though there is some spaces. They try to make like I am problem. However their bed has given me disease from bugs
The bed and dormetry was good but the bathroom was way too small. Breakfast was good but the timings were a bit odd (9 to 11). There were some rules for the air-conditioning, they put it on only after 11 pm and wwitchbit off after 12 pm. The location is perfect, just in the middle of touristic center. All the sites are accessible from there.
If I have to choose accommodation all over again, I will choose them without hesitation. Such a great place and a very kind and friendly staff. Rooms are big and comfortable and location is amazing. Acropolis and other attractions can be reached by foot from this hostel. Amazing experience I had there!

Super nice host! Super cute and small hostel! Waited for us until 12pm, because our train had some delay. Very clean rooms with airconditioning👍🏼 We could also leave our bagage in the Hostel although we already checked out. Also very good location, near to Tram Station.
Mr Christos, the owner and manager of the Hostel is a very helpful person providing advise for the Greece's better cities to visit in an affordable way. His Hostel has a very good location close to the Larissos Metro Station and the Train Terminal. It's a very clean place.
It is not much good hostel but if you want to save some money then it's a good choice to stay for 1 or 2 nights. The owner is a Sri Lankan family and they are really nice. But they don't have a 24 hrs reception.
Fine for 1 night, but nothing special. Shower is small and bed quite hard. Neighbourhood is quite sketchy, when the taxi driver dropped me off he told me to be careful. Also when I stood outside there were 2 homeless people coming out of the ruin across the street. I only stayed 1 night to continue my trip to a Greek island.
