Reviews
Hotel: The hotel is older, but everything worked fine. The location is okay, but if you plan to go to Kos Town daily, you’ll probably need a bike or some other transport, as it’s about a 20–30 minute walk. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is right next to a busy road with traffic lights, so cars and buses are constantly stopping and going. It can be inconvenient, but since this is well-known in advance, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Despite having a room close to the reception, the WiFi wasn’t always reliable. The description also mentioned a bar, but I only noticed a fridge at the reception with water, beer, and some soft drinks for sale.
Room: I stayed alone and had to pay extra for the second bed, but honestly, I can’t imagine two people sharing it – it felt more like one and a half than a double bed. The room itself was very small, so having two large suitcases would be difficult as there was hardly any space to store them. My room was right next to the reception, so I could hear people arriving at night, breakfast noise in the morning, and even the TV from the common area in the evening. It didn’t bother me enough to complain, but I can see how it might disturb others. Since the room was on the ground floor, it would have been nice to have net curtains – otherwise, you either had the blackout curtains fully closed, or everyone could see inside. On the positive side, cleaning was done daily, the AC worked perfectly, and you can borrow a hairdryer from reception if needed.
Beach: Several beaches are within a 5–10 minute walk, but I’d recommend going a bit further if you want nicer ones.
Overall, for the price it was fine as a place to sleep, but not really somewhere to spend much free time – so next time I would probably choose a different hotel.
The room was pretty clean and big for its type of hotel, breakfast was pretty good not too much choices like a big hotels but enough,
nice view from the room and from the dining room,
nice style atmosphere
,close to the port,
hot water
Negative -
At breakfast there were some flies in the room and some foods like yogurt etc where not covered !
The stuff(men) did not help me at all with my very big luggage that they saw me ,a girl struggling ALot to carry up the stairs , it seems very rude ...that was the worst
The mini fridge in the room had mold
I paid for a second night stay while I left in the afternoon and should have paid half since I didn't stay the whole night !
The building is old, run-down, and poorly maintained.
The rooms are uncomfortable, and the breakfast was tasteless with very little variety.
The bathroom and toilet are very outdated, and water leaks from the sides of the shower heads.
Cleaning was not done automatically – I had to specifically ask for it.
For the high price you charge, you could at least renovate the bathroom and toilet.
Overall, completely overpriced for such poor quality. Absolutely not recommended!
Location – 4/5
The location was great for me: about a 20-minute walk to Kos town, with restaurants and the bar street easily accessible on foot. There are several small supermarkets nearby, plus a beach and a small shopping center within walking distance.
A big plus (and also a downside) is the main road in front of the hotel. It gets quite loud in the evenings due to traffic, so it’s better suited for people who sleep with the balcony door closed and use the air conditioning – which worked very well in our room.
On the positive side, parking was easy and the main road makes it convenient to reach different parts of the island by car. One thing to note: there is a prison within about 100 meters. It looked very secure and didn’t cause any problems during our stay, but it might be worth mentioning for some travelers.
Room – 4/5
The room was basic but clean and had everything we needed:
• Strong air conditioning
• Decent fridge with a small freezer compartment
• Wi-Fi could be better, but was fine for most things
• Only one power outlet near the bed, which was inconvenient
• The shower was extremely small, although it was high enaugh, and the water pressure and temperature fluctuated a lot
• The chairs on the balcony were very uncomfortable to sit on for long periods
We didn’t use the safe, but we left valuables like an iPad and cash in the room all week without any issues. The room isn’t stylish or modern, but if you’re spending most of the day out and about, it does the job.
Breakfast – 2/5
Breakfast was included, but the selection was very limited. There were basic bread rolls, one type of ham and cheese, jam, honey, some boiled eggs (inconsistently cooked), cake, and yogurt with canned peaches. There was also some muesli.
The coffee was okay, but the juice didn’t taste good at all. Overall, very minimal and not particularly Greek.
Service
Cleaning staff were friendly and did a good job. Reception was helpful and answered all our questions kindly.
Other
There is no pool and no hotel bar, at least not that we saw.
Conclusion – 4/5 overall
Kos Bay Hotel is a good option for active travelers. It’s clean, well located, and affordable, but not ideal if you’re looking for a quiet place or modern amenities. I’d recommend it for people who plan to explore the island and just need a place to sleep.
The worst experience of this hotel is that at 9am (2 hours before check out) someone just came into my room without knocking as I was laying in bed naked. I’m a solo female traveller. When I let the front desk guy know he was not empathetic at all and said the only person there at that time was himself, which is even more creepy.
The rooms are definitely older and very minimal, but I didn’t expect the rooms to be lavish for the pricing.
HOWEVER the staff were rude. No chance of early check-in which is fine but even if you don't suggest it but you're simply being there early is enough reason for them to almost scold you. I asked them if I can leave my bag until check-in and that old guy at the reception basically told me to do whatever I want and when asked where I can leave my bag he told me to leave it with the other bags at the hall in the entrance. Later I found out that they actually have a storage room downstairs for luggage.
OVERALL TERRIBLE STAFF, VERY MEDIOCRE FOOD, SMALL DISGUSTING BATHROOM.
It doesn't matter how cheap it is, just simply not worth it.
The room space is very small. There is no place to put things in the double room. There is no washing machine and can only be washed by hand. Clothes cannot be hung on the balcony. The shower head is crooked and the lights in the room are very dim.
The breakfast was very average, the front desk was an old man, the courtesy was average, and the overall facilities were old. Many of the pictures uploaded by the hotel are false propaganda and there is no swimming pool at all.
If 2-4 people are traveling or vacationing in Kos from home, it is recommended to stay in a B&B (note that some B&Bs do not have air conditioning, so you need to confirm with the landlord) or a resort hotel. They have all the facilities, are warm and convenient, and the price per person is still affordable. Cheaper than this one.
