Philoxenia Hotel & SPA

I stayed at this hotel for a week in June and was very disappointed. It looks nothing like the pictures online. The entire place is in serious need of renovation — everything feels outdated and poorly maintained. Cleanliness is a major issue, especially around the pool, which was never cleaned during our stay.

The buffet is extremely small and not varied at all. The staff were not welcoming or helpful, which made the overall experience even more unpleasant.

At the pool, it’s not allowed to bring your own water or snacks, yet they don’t offer anything to buy for the kids to have as an afternoon snack — not even a small treat or something to nibble on. It made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Even the rooms are in poor condition — closets were broken, and electric wires were sticking out from some of the light fixtures.

This hotel seriously needs improvement in terms of service, maintenance, and hospitality. I do not recommend staying here.

The rooms were alright and the poolarea and spa is pretty nice.

However the service from the boys at the site was awful. Almost borderline threatening in their tone. The breakfast was below average. The bar was a bit pricy and what they offered didn’t really taste great.

But at least the rooms were alright with good balconies. And as I said, they have a nice poolarea. If you like to party and go to the beach it is located in a great area.

The rooms were not cleaned fully for one week.

The male staff was on our backs the day we arrived first night we listened music and threatend to kick us out and then i felt like everyone of them was watching me and my friends we were supposed to be there until tomorrow but last night we came from partying and the ”security” guy who d rides the ”boss” dragged us to his home and then we were confused and they tried ti drag us out and the boss tried to hit my friend then they called the police and the police were on our side but today they called them again and just like that they come into our room and tell 30minutes and ur out but alltough all of this malia was the best week of my life

The staff is so mean and everythinh is overpriced. If you’re going on a vacation with you’re friends, don’t go to philoxenia. It is the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. The staff called the police on us whitout a reason and the police did nothing. And they get angry if you are playing in the pool. The staff on hotels are usuamly nice but here they ar so mean.

The hotel was clean overall. Fresh towels every two days and a clean of the room too. Air conditioning was good and easy to use. The bathroom was up to date and the water pressure was good. But, the male reception workers were unwelcoming and rude. They are very strict on noise on the balcony even thought you can hear the Malia ***** very clearly from the rooms. Nothing bought outside of the hotel was allowed to be consumed around the pool, this is their own rule but we believe it’s extreme to not allow water unless bought through them. As a group of girls, we were repeatedly shouted out for playing quiet music, told ‘be quiet or you will be kicked out. Speak to the boss. This is your first and final warning’. The hotel guests on the balcony next to us were very confused and said we were being very cautious of those in the hotel too. The boys on the other side of our balcony were running on the roof and smashing bottles into the pool, nothing was said by management, they just cleared up the mess and moved on. We felt isolated as a group as no other groups were targeted. The pool was clean and refreshing. The beach was a short walk and the ***** a short walk too. It was about 15 minutes to the old town or €10 in a taxi. We wouldn’t choose to stay in this hotel again but considering the price we appreciated the standard of the rooms, although they weren’t the same as the pictures shown. The staff rudeness and way of communicating really let them down as an overall experience.

We stayed here for a week and are not satisfied what so ever. We got moved from our room 3 times because the toilets and sinks smelt like a sewer. They moved us while they tried to fix that then put us back into the same room and it still reeked. Then we got moved again which was a better room but the smell was awful and was coming from everywhere. The air-con didn’t work at all so our room was no better than the temperature outside.

The people who worked here were very rude to us and started shouting at us for drinking buying water that is not brought at the bar. (I didn’t want to buy from the bar as they charged me €25 for a drink when it’s €8.60 and only gave me €10 back) They threatened to kick us out when we already checked out and have nowhere else to go for 8 hours. This is not ideal as my friend I’m with has become very ill and just wants to stay hydrated. They continues to give us dirty looks when we’re just sitting here talking.

The breakfast and dinner was cold and you don’t get any drinks such as water included in dinner, you have to pay. This hotel is classed as a “luxury pool hotel” but have to pay for the lux pool, if not then you can go in the pool with the ducks swimming in it.

The wifi kept being taken down every 10 minutes so we could not keep in touch with anyone, especially for safety reasons.

The only good thing about this hotel is that the location is good. It’s about a 7 minute walk from the beech and a 2 minute walk from the strip.

I would not recommend coming here at all as we didn’t enjoy our holiday as much due to this poor service. I’m looking forwards to seeing the response from this hotel as nobody should be staying in these conditions.
