Holiday Inn Bologna - Fiera, an IHG Hotel

The hotel is very far from the city center and the touristic area. Even though it has a bus stop close by, maybe 3 minutes walk, the bus service in that area was terrible and so many times we had to walk long distances to another station to catch a bus. Plus, during the weekend, the bus that takes you to the Central Station is not on. This really sucked. The hotel was ok, the beds were really good, big bathroom and good toiletries. It could be cleaner, and the breakfast was really bad. I think they are short of staff because one morning, we had to wait 15-20 minutes to refill the food. We were there for 6 days, and every day was exactly the same breakfast. For the omelet, you have to pay extra. Only scramble egg is included with the breakfast. Some days, we had to ask for extra towels because even though we were 3 people in the room, we only got 2 towels. The staff from the reception could be friendlier and they are not really helpful when you need to ask for information. One night, we dined at the hotel, and surprisingly, the food was ok. Just that the server was at the reception and at the bar at the same time, so waiting time was long. We liked that the kids' menu was free. From the airport we recommend getting a taxi, because it costs the same as the bus and you reach in 15 minutes, instead of almost 2 hours with the local transport.

Location awful as no convenient public transport and taxis booked by hotel could take a long time and varied in price drastically. Reception very poor service with no information or wrong information regarding public buses. Restaurant staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room OK but a big hand painted on wardrobe door was quite scary 😨 decor awful

The service and room were not bad. Bed was clean and comfortable, and everyone we interacted with was very nice and accommodating. One thing was that the AC turned off in the middle of the night, and the room got hot enough to wake us up. More issuses come into play with the "restaurant" and shower. The shower had mold gowing on the doors. The shower head system was falling apart. My partner had to screw things back together for us to use it. The hose to the head was so kinked there was almost no water pressure. Very horrible shower. The restaurant was god-awful. The portions are miniscule, especially for being that expensive! I have a very small apitite, and i was starving after eating an entire meal from there. Although it looked good at first, the taste was awful. I've had better microwaveable pasta at home. The noodles were hard and stringy, and the sauce tasted like watery tomato and ground beef. The only thing you are paying for there is the convicence of being in to hotel. Would NOT recommend. Just get a taxi to a better cheaper restaurant.
