Very friendly staff. Hotel in the middle of everything. Very nice and interesting rooms.

Excellent hotel. Highly recommended. Location is as good as it gets. Beautifully restored old building. Excellent breakfast. Flawless.
Now for an explanation of why this isn’t a 5 star review:
1) we stayed in the “Annex”, which is a short walk from the hotel. The Annex is simply an apartment building where the hotel has two rooms (in a dingy old building!). The first room we were assigned was terrible! Cramped, noisy a/c and you could hear the neighbors quite clearly all night. The second room was much better, but we could hear our neighbors (next to us and above) going about their daily lives: loud Italian style phone calls (we could hear both parties, as they constantly used their speakerphones!), clanging of pots/pans, stomping around, etc…this happened from 6pm-3am DAILY for the entire stay…and restarted at 6am sharp!
2) because of these issues, on day 2, we asked to leave two days early (of our six night stay), and they essentially put up enough penalties & barriers to make that impossible….all while the hotel was fully booked! Why?!?
3) this last issue had nothing to do with the hotel, but on NYE, the piazza was packed with a large crowd for the festivities…but there were also many hooligans who shot off fireworks and very loud bombs (?) right outside our window. This went on til 4am! Obviously, no rest for the weary! BUT, why didn’t the hotel warn us or have extra security on that one night?! There were tons of police, but they did nothing. On our walk back to our room that evening at 9pm, we were shoved, grabbed and fireworks thrown at us! Very scary! We reported to an officer, who simply shrugged and said: this happens and they behave like animals! Great, thanks…very (un) helpful!
We will not be staying here again.
