Mercure Bologna Centro

I stayed for a short time at this hotel and the staff were amazing. It is conveniently located near the train for quick arrival and departures.

Suzanne at the front desk was amazing. She was quick, kind, and courteous with a great sense of humor.

Matteo at the bar was absolutely wonderful. He was knowledgeable, skilled, and wonderful to converse with.

The stay started as a one night that extended to a few days. The staff definitely had a part in that. They made it feel so spectacular and were genuinely kind.

The Mercure Bologna Centro is very well located, just across the street from the main train station, making it incredibly convenient for travel. It’s also only a manageable 20-minute walk to the Piazza Maggiore, so you’re close enough to the main attractions without being right in the hustle and bustle.

For a Mercure property, this hotel is surprisingly nice. The rooms are modern, clean, and cozy, offering a comfortable space to relax after a day of exploring. The garden area is another highlight—spacious and serene, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a cappuccino or an aperitivo in a peaceful setting.

We didn’t dine at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the food, but overall, the property offers a pleasant stay.

However, service could use some improvement. Basic training in presentation, communication, and professionalism, particularly when staff are “on the floor,” would go a long way to enhance the guest experience. Of the five times we visited the bar, three times we had to wait nearly five minutes for anyone to attend to us, which felt a bit frustrating.

That said, if you’re a regular Accor guest like me, this is a solid and affordable option when visiting Bologna. It’s not perfect, but it offers good value for money, especially if you’re on a budget.

Great location near the train station. We used as a base to travel to florence and San Marino so perfect location. 15 minute walk into centre if bologna and 10 to main restaurants.
Staff were attentive and service was exceptional. Room was clean and modern. Really happy with our stay.

Really enjoyed the stay. Spotlessly clean. Staff really great & friendly. It’s a great location to base yourself in for day trips nearby. Close to the Autostrade, etc. On the negative side, the Car park entrance was difficult to find initially. This could be better explained on the website. Lift from car park wasn’t working when we arrived so had to carry cases up the stairs. Apart from those minor gripes, would definitely recommend it!

Location is convenient if you want to use Bologna as a hub and plan to use the trains a lot. It’s about a 20min walk into “old town” which is okay during the day but at night after dinner and drinks feels longer and quite dark.

Well located, with Bologne train station across the street, lots of places too eat open until late hours and easy acess to bus terminal(s). The staff is really nice and kind and the rooms are well cleaned and have a 55 inch tv. The breakfast has a lot of options and every room has a mini bar with sodas included. Comfortable beds and, overall, would recommend

Good location, a brisk stroll to the main part of the old town, ideal if traveling by train (opposite the central station) but parking was easy too (there is an underground parking which is expensive, but we found ample parking on the street within 100-200m from the hotel. Nice public areas, renovated rooms are ok too. For an Italian city centre hotel it is not bad.

Well positioned right opposite the train station and within walking distance (15min) from city center.
Room overlooked the back garden which was nice and hoped tranquil as well. But each day there were works of outside refurbishment with much noise (when finished it will be excellent). Room interior design was simple uninteresting and floor not very clean. However, it should be mentioned that although we did not book breakfast, room had coffee machine (espresso) which was excellent and everyday 1 bottle of water and some soft drinks in fridge compimentary.
