Service: Staff is attentive and willing to help. Our check-in was amazingly fast. The bar is always staffed and in addition to drinks, also offer small snacks.
Location: A bit of walking to the city center, but you pass a lot of nice views and stops along the way. Near the train station which is convenient, however at night like in most cities you get an odd crowd on the sidewalks but it was nice that hotel has security during those hours.
We had a newly renovated room with a balcony to the yard. It might be noisy if having a room out towards the road as it's a very busy road, and people like to use their horns.
It was a big bathroom, big bed, big TV and a big room overall that we appreciated after staying in some smaller rooms so far on our trip.
We also had breakfast which had a good selection, and in the room we had free mini bar that was restocked everyday.
Why I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I do hate when hotels lock their TVs down so you can't use your own device with the HDMI port. I can't see why this would be necessary to do.
They also partner with a parking nearby, for 20 euro + per night. Worked well in my case, ask for the address of that Parkin advance as you can't park at the hotel.
The bed is comfortable, roof is comfortable but VERY small.
It's a 10 min walk to the happening in the center. Nothing is really nice around the train station.
The staff was very nice.
Towards our room in the end there’s a small flight of stairs (3-4 steps), it will be inconvenient if there’s mobility issue or if your luggage is too heavy. Do let them know in case they didn’t see your situation.
I stayed at Mercure Bologna Centro for three nights during my trip from Rome to Bologna. The location couldn't be more convenient—it's literally right across the pedestrian walkway from Bologna Centrale, making it perfect for travelers arriving by train.
The staff were all very polite, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay. My room was clean, spacious, and impressively quiet despite being near the station. The king-sized bed was especially comfortable and well-designed—you can turn or shift on one side of the bed without disturbing the other side at all.
The bathroom and toilet were spotless and well-maintained, with a clean and functional shower. Overall, I had a very pleasant and restful stay, and I would definitely choose this hotel again the next time I visit Bologna.
