The check in process and all communications is via WhatsApp. Make sure you check in with them early, before arriving to the city. They look annoyed if they have to help you, but were helpful nonetheless.
There’s quite a few steps to maneuver. The keys are interesting to use. No safe or lockbox in the room. There is a mini fridge & spot to hang coats.
After getting settled in, we’re barely at the hotel so it’s fine. Walking distance to all the places.
We started out in room #9, but as it was nothing like the pictures (and the sink had a "do not use" sign on it), we immediately asked for another room. We politely dealt with somebody somewhere on WhatsApp, and got moved to the marginally better apartment on the 4th floor. Some refuse in the room, a toilet that wouldn't fill (I fixed it), a shower drain that was plugged (plus shower door mould & a broken toilet seat), radiators that were too hot to touch (but I managed to get the valve handle back on to shut it off, even though it was leaking), etc.
The online pictures are from this place during a previous life. No breakfast, 3 days with no room service (the piece of soap was getting pretty thin!), and there never appeared to be anyone around, other than when we checked in.
You judge for yourself......
We specifically paid extra for a private bathroom. However, when using it, I noticed water dripping from the ceiling. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that this was wastewater from the toilet in the room above us. This means human waste was literally dripping onto us while using the facilities—completely unacceptable and unsanitary. The ceiling was also heavily infested with mold. The bathroom was unusable, and we ended up having to go elsewhere just to use the restroom.
We immediately contacted the property, and they replied the next day (24 hours later) saying someone would arrive within 10 minutes. When we returned, nothing had been addressed—the bathroom remained in the same horrifying condition.
We requested a full refund, but have since received no response. There is no one available at the front desk, and communication is non-existent.
The room itself had a broken sink. We were not given any blankets, just a single bed sheet.
While I can tolerate minimal service, I cannot accept paying extra for what is clearly a biohazard. The lack of hygiene, safety, and customer support is completely unacceptable.
Do not book here.
Loving Florence - will be checking out tomorrow and finding an actually suitable location to sleep.
It’s a small place with no elevator and limited services, which is understandable.
The main issue was check-in — no instructions were given, and there’s no front desk. It’s a self check-in with a door code, and I had to call them to get it.
Overall, it’s okay if you understand it’s a small hotel.
