Hotel Ferrucci

We stayed at the ground floor. The room had windows with shutters that can not be opened. So we couldn’t see daylight. The bed was comfortable and shower was nice. The photos doesn’t match with the room nor the reception area. The hotel is a little far away from the town. You surely can get better rooms for this price.

Excellent location just outside the ZTL. Very limited paid parking with a tight and steep entry…be sure you have a smaller car and a confident driver. Clean rooms and public spaces, a mini-fridge and air conditioning in each room. Three floors plus an attic room, and it’s stairs all the way. Rooms are not huge, and bathrooms are tight, as expected at this type of hotel, but the staff are friendly and helpful. Multiple places to eat nearby, and the multiple bus stops within 5 minutes make getting about Florence a breeze. Now, why did I title this about Americans needing to know what to expect, well, because this isn’t a Holiday Inn. European customers already know about the stairs, the limited facilities and the meaning of “air conditioning” (which, in Europe means a fair chance of holding about 25°C or so in the summer, not ice cold during a heat wave). Be sure to have a plan if you drive here, we arranged a space months ahead of time, otherwise there is possible paid street parking, if spots are open and the meter is paid…and I haven’t checked the maximum stay period.

Fabio at the front desk welcomed us with a smile and gave us lots of helpful information. He was so kind and friendly. He called a taxi for us too. He went above and beyond to help us and make us feel welcome.

Hotel Ferrucci saved us. We had made the mistake of booking our other hotel for one less day than we needed and had to last minute scramble. Ferrucci was literally the only hotel with vacancy in the city and we snagged the last room. For that, I will be forever grateful.

In terms of review, this place is definitely a budget option with a no-frills motel vibe and it's further away from the core of Florence. However, Florence is so walkable that it really isn't an issue and you can get to all the attractions fairly easily with a 15-20 minute walk. The rooms are not as nice as pictured in the photos and are clearly old, not the most renovated and the walls in the bathroom had marks/patterns. However, the room was comfortable and clean. My favorite part of our stay was the concierge was very friendly and helpful, provided us with exceptional service.

Very good place to stay, the front desk guy is very enthusiastic, very good hotel!

We stayed for 5 nights in this hotel. Room is quite cozy and with AC. Only 30mins walk from Ponte Vecchio and infront of river Arno, in a quiet area. Bathroom does not have handheld shower. Everyday room is topped up with coffee/tea and of course, something sweet :)
