Il Chiostro Mini-hotel

We arrived at the Cloister Hotel on a very hot summer day. And no one at reception even looked at us or greeted us until we made a point of saying we needed to check in. When we eventually got our keys, we found our way to the room, which was down a musty smelling hall, through an old lounge area. The room was awful - it smelled like must and cleaning supplies, the airconditioner was leaking a terrible smell and the wall of the aircon had mould all over it. The bathroom had hand rails everywhere, the bedroom decor was dated. I realised that this 'monastery' must have just been a previous aged care facility.
When I raised my concerns about the mold, they offered to clean it but I refused to sleep in a room with mold due to the health impact this could have. They told me there were no other rooms as they were booked out, so I said we would look for an alternate place to stay and I thanked them. A few minutes later, the service attendant had found another available room - clearly one of the nicer rooms on the other side of the building with a garden view. This was a decent room and had a better experience after that: The continental breakfast was good, the location was good, the staff were helpful and friendly.
