Aurea Central Hotel

From the first minutes of my stay and throughout the entire visit, the staff always listened to my requests. My room was very clean and I felt comfortable living there.The hotel location is very convenient because from here you can easily walk to the riverside, temples and other local attractions. They also provided me with a local map and with the help of this I easily found my way around the city. The next time my friends and I come to the capital of Cambodia, we will definitely return to this hotel.

Extremely comfortable, Western-style hotel located strategically in central Hanoi with quick access to popular tourist areas as well as administrative buildings. English spoken. From what I can tell many of the negative reviews of this hotel were made during Covid and involve quarantine service. From what I experienced this hotel deserves a much better overall rating level and is doing a good job of earning it post-Covid!

While not a new hotel Aurea maintains a cleanliness and comfort level that is much appreciated without expending money and effort on needless frills. Highly recommended if you're a first time visitor to PP and don't want unpleasantly unexpected issues or surprises.

Check-in was seamless (with a reservation in advance). Breakfast is offered daily and is mostly Asian-oriented (noodles, rice, veggies, etc.) but they do offer over-easy and sunny-side up eggs, pork bacon, and chicken sausage every day in addition to a selection of breads and croissants. Fresh fruit, yogurt and some cereal round out the selection. Pots of tea and coffee are kept filled as well. Additionally, the hotel provides a complimentary 'late-night snack' starting at 9:30pm until 11:30pm. This consists of soup broth, veggies, noodles and a variety of chili oils, toasted garlic, chopped green onions, etc. Room-service is available from the restaurant on-site and the food is pretty good. Beef noodle dish was tasty as was their Cuban sandwich (which tasted more Mexican than Cuban but was acceptable regardless!).

Self-service, no-charge laundry machines are located on the 9th floor (elevator only goes to the 8th floor so you walk up one flight of stairs). While you have laundry bags in your room there is no hotel-laundry service beyond the self-service machines. Three machines with detergent in bottles. However no dryers so you either hang your clothes in the laundry area to dry or dry them in your room. Workout facility also located on the 9th floor. There's a sky bar on the 7th floor but I didn't check this out.

Rooms are comfortable. Had a superior king bed room which included a lounge sofa (not a Western-style pull-out 'sofa bed', which is what the room listing calls it), a table and chair for work, plenty of outlets bedside and elsewhere for charging, black out curtains, in-room safe, tea & coffee service with hot pot, television (local TV stations only, no English-language movie channels) and complimentary drinking water bottles. Plenty of lighting options in the room and bedside controls for many of them. Wi-fi was more than adequate for business-level audio/video streaming or basic gaming.

Bathroom includes Western-toilet and a separate shower area (dry bathroom not a wet one like many Asian hotels offer). Sink and mirror or located outside the bathroom/shower room. Towels are large and comfortable. Basic toiletries provided in-room. Toilet paper as well as butt-gun available for use with the toilet. Shampoo and shower gel provided via dispenser bottles in the shower.

Area with ample hangers to hang your clothes. The room does not feel cramped, and there were no unpleasant odors, stains, or other matters of inadequate cleaning. Everything was very nice and comfortable. Window looked out on an interior courtyard area (was on the sixth floor so the view was other hotel windows across the way).

Would definitely stay here again on future visits. On a main thoroughfare but traffic noise was not an issue. Easy to get taxis, Grabs, and tuk-tuks (local inexpensive, open air transport). About a 20-60 minute ride from the airport depending on traffic. About a seven minute tuk-tuk ride from the tourist areas close to the waterfront. Central Market (huge indoor/outdoor open air market selling everything from clothes to jewelry to produce & prepared foods) is a 5-minute walk away. ATMs also a short walk away.

Really enjoyed my stay. Budget friendly and the room was really comfortable. Will be my go to place to stay when I visit PP.
