Almost no one greets you; you walk past the reception and they don’t even nod. I sat alone in the bar for 30 minutes, with empty coffee cups and plates on the tables, which meant that someone else had eventually received service. The waitress appeared from somewhere only after half an hour and finally brought me my drink. When I wanted to order another one, some sports team arrived for what seemed like an afternoon snack, and the waiter spent over thirty minutes taking their drink orders, completely ignoring the fact that I was sitting there with an empty glass. Even as he walked past me, he didn’t so much as glance my way. I was simply invisible, although I was sitting right at a table next to the bar.
In my suitcase, a scented sachet tore open and dried herbs spilled out. When I unpacked my clothes, some fell onto the carpet. In three days, the room was never vacuumed once – the herbs were still scattered on the carpet. Thankfully, I’m not allergic, so a bit of dust won’t kill me. The carpet itself is dirty, full of stains, and it’s obvious that no one takes proper care of it. I’m also adding photos of how the room looked after housekeeping had been there – the bed and the bathroom, with toilet paper left on the bathtub.
The room was okay, but blackout curtains should be provided for the windows, as it’s already bright by 5 AM. The mini fridge wasn’t working — I informed the reception, and they sent a staff member to check it. It was indeed not working, but the staff member said, “Well, this fridge is just for the very expensive items to be bought if you want,” which gave us the impression that it was basically useless. However, I had medication that needed refrigeration, and nothing was done about it.
The bathtub is VERY slippery, and there’s no handle to help you get in or out — an accident could easily happen. I don’t have any mobility issues, and I nearly fell every time I used it. So, I would seriously reconsider staying here if you’re older or have any minor physical limitations.
When checking out, we asked if it would be possible — even for an extra fee — to use the pool or sauna after checkout (12:00), since our flight was at 11 PM. We just needed a shower after spending the afternoon in the city and before flying home. However, we were told it was impossible because we no longer had access cards (???). The staff were not helpful, and based on our experience travelling to similar hotels in around 30 countries, such a request is usually accommodated with no issue.
Apart from the location, I’m not sure I can recommend staying here. It’s a shame...
2. The correct room was spacious, everything worked as intended except the very slow shower drain, resulting in feet covered with shower water at the end. The soundproofing could have been better, can hear neighbours conversation and TV clearly.
3. We stayed for 3 nights, in the last night of our stay, a cleaning staff decided 6:30AM is a good time to turn on the vaccum in the hallway which along with bad soundproofing woke us up. When we went out to investigate, the staff simply said she is simply doing her job. When we complained to front desk, they simply called someone that told us the cleaner doesn't know anything, which means the hotel trains its staff poorly and won't take responsibility when things go wrong.
4. Good location, we were able to walk to most places in Old Town with many restaurants and supermarket options.
5. Good Wi-Fi, speed held up in the evening.
It was a hot day and the AC was broken. They promised me to fix it the next day, which they didn't. Listening to the sound it produced, while not cooling, I think it hasn't worked for a long time.
The rooms were noisy, you can hear the neighbors talking. There was a truck unloading at 04.30 for my window. And since there is nothing to block the light, I've attached a photo from 5.15 in the morning, where the room it so lit up, you can't sleep anymore.
So, not recommended.
There was no toothbrush, toothpaste or ear sticks in the bathroom. Water in the room, it turns out, was paid for, 3 euros for a small bottle, although it was not on the list of paid products. On the last day before we left and the long journey, there was a very loud party in the restaurant until 2am. So I didn't manage to sleep well. Many people complained to the reception, but they did nothing at all, neither to turn down the sound nor to offer earplugs.
I have no desire to return to this hotel
