Theatre Residence

Great start to a trip in beautiful Thailand. I'd give this hotel 4.5 if I could. Large, clean rooms, large comfy bed and kitchenette, free water, and a really good breakfast overlooking the river. The view from my room wasn't great but it was generally quiet, which is more important to me, apart from some odd noises from the roof at 4 or 5am each morning? Fantastic location. Beautiful peaceful temple next door, which I really appreciated after visiting the larger tourist attractions across the river. And a nice little street market too. I particularly love that this is on the quiet side of the river with a riverboat crossing every few minutes to the buzzy, busy, beautiful side - perfect. The pool feels a little public but is nice. Slightly odd that you can only sit around it if you're wearing a costume and the area doubles as reception. I'd been traveling for 24 hours and had to wait 5 hours to get in my room due to early arrival so nowhere to wait unless I got into a costume. Overall though, I'd really recommend this hotel and would definitely go back. It has a really nice warm feel to it, and an interesting history. Thanks for a lovely introduction to Thailand.

For our first stay in Thailand, there could not have been a better start. Staff was very friendly and helpful as expected. The hotel itself was very modern, well maintained and clean. The room was spacious with a walk in closet, nice bathroom and a small kitchen. The pool was a nice way to cool down in the afternoon heat.

Although I thought the hotel was pretty much fully booked, it never felt crowded. Located just a few 100m away from the ferry piers, I guess guests just used their time to explore the city all day.

Breakfast was very good as well as dinner which we once had in the hotel restaurant (same place).

This is a great place overall, very clean, the staff is so kind and friendly too, though their English is not the best.

Room: IMO they call it a residence because you definitely have enough space to live here for a long term stay, including a full refrigerator, kitchen supplies like silverware, cups and plates, there is also a microwave. The rooms are spacious and have a ton of storage space.

Property: is clean and maintained, yet very simple. This place isn't elegant, but it is interesting with the art everywhere from when it was an actual open air theater back in the day, kind of like a free museum. The pool is nice to have and there are plenty of lounge spots around it.

Restaurant: breakfast came with my room, every morning I was curious what would be there as they didn't have the same meals every day. They also had local favorites to introduce us mostly foreign guests to new Thai foods, I really appreciated that and tried most, a couple I really liked. I had dinner one night as was impressed, the food was super yummy and the menu was really good at explaining foods I was not familiar with, pictures included which I very much appreciated.

Location: the location is a bit of a drawback, you need to plan extra time to get to/from places, but the ferry is so cheap (30-40b one way, that's basically $1usd, or 150b unlimited day) it helps and adds a little river cruise which is fun, and the upside is having a pool (that's why I chose to stay this place) while being pretty centrally located. It's also a bit cheaper on the west side of the river and Wand Lang market is pretty happening which is only 5 minutes walk away.

I would easily stay here again.

We only stayed two nights but just had an amazing stay at the Theatre Residence. It's in a good location and being able to catch a ferry across the river to visit the beautiful temples makes it an exciting adventure.
Very big rooms with everything that you would need and a good breakfast. Could easily stay there for a long stay.
Nice pool to freshen up after a hot day visiting Bangkok.

A very special thank you to the staff on duty last night and the night before for arranging some taxis for us (7 of us) to take us into central Bangkok and being so helpful with their advice and recommendations. You made us feel so welcome and are very grateful for your professionalism and smiles.

The hotel has a good atmosphere. It feels calm, but unfortunately, the walls of the room may be too thin because when someone walks through the front of the room and talks, you will hear the sound very clearly. The service staff is very good. It isn't suitable for people who bring the car because there are few parking spaces.

Great location near the Wang Lang market, less touristic and more local feel.

Nice staff, great rooms with a little kitchen including a microwave and big fridge. The pool area is also very nice.
Breakfast is tasty, with both Thai and continental options.

Not sure the terrace/bar understands what happy hour means as with the ‘2 cocktails for 1’ we still got charged 2, but it was nice all together ;)

Very clean hotel, nice building and great view. Not the best location in Bangkok but if you would like to feel the city urban life, this is the location that you are looking for. We felt very safe during our one night stay.

Restaurant is very very good!
