The Common Hostel SHA

One of my favorite hostels I’ve stayed at. Very modern, clean, and quiet. Beds were large and comfortable with a dark curtain for your pod. The communal area is large and kept clean and busy but quiet at most hours of the day. Bathrooms were good; showers were okay but several sinks and mirrors which was nice. Large kitchen and fridge which was nice for holding leftovers. Location is perfect as you are a couple hundred meters from the north gate of old town. You can walk anywhere easily or call a grab quickly, too.

10/10, will be back!

Rooms are very clean and modern. Maybe small storage if u are coming with a big backpack or luggage, but you can always keep it on or next to the bed. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Amazing value!!!

Really good and quiet hostel. A lot of different people. Booked a private room and it was great. The complimentary breakfast was a bit dissapointing though.

Great spot to stay in Chiang Mai on a budget, well located in the old city and walking distance to everything!! Staff make this place really good, they are freindly and helpful. Next time I am back in CM I definitely will be staying at this hostel again.

This was a great selection during my stay in Chiang Mai. It's located within Old City, along the northern end of the border, which makes it a convenient walking distance to three temples and a small, affordable night market. I'd categorize this hostel as ideal for the digital nomad, as they offer multiple lounging areas and pretty good WiFi. Loved the breakfast in the morning, offering the standards, as well as a different Thai dish every day from Curry to Pad See Ew. The hospitality of everyone working here were very kind and friendly, so I especially loved that! I felt right at home. Another favorite feature of this hostel is that the AC in the rooms are nice and strong, making sure that the rooms are nice and cold which is something I looked forward to after a hot day outside.I splurged a bit and booked the queen size dormitory and it was the best decision I could have ever made.

The only reason for 4 stars is that the bathrooms have an open air concept with tons of open windows. Although this sounds nice, it's not very ideal because you're trying to fight a handful mosquitos while you're showering and/or using the toilet.
