Helios Hotel

It’s fine for being just a place to sleep and the beach is great but if you have another option I’d heavily recommend not staying here.

Our fridge was broken and the maintenance guy shoved my hand into it onto the cooling plate said it’s cold but then he felt the water in it which was warm, he hesitated and left anyway. Pool was alright. Food was terrible so expect to find somewhere else to eat (there’s a deli around the corner and a steak house on the way to the beach which are good) you can get taxis around Side quite easily and the reception staff are helpful for that. Our stay was interrupted by a lightning storm and power cuts which was more cool than inconvenient so it wasn’t much bother but the hotel should maybe install emergency lighting for the hallways.
The beach is great but you could be in any hotel in Side and say that. Staff just seemed bored and annoyed (by the hotel more than guests) felt sorry for them. The bar is horrendously underwhelming and I’m not a big drinker but wow. All in all the beds are fine and it has AC most of the time so treat it as a hostel and you get what you pay for.

If you pay small money, you cannot expect top service, however... Lift operates 0-3 floors, if your room is on 4th floor you must walk one floor. Roof must be poorly isolated and temperature in the rooms is higher than outside. Air-conditioning working (very loudly) only with key is in the socket so first 10-15 minutes it is a horror. TV in the room working but no channels connected. Staff very nice and try to be helpful but except hotel manager, they don't speak English at all. Not even simplest words. There is no first aid box in hotel. WiFi only in lobby. No in the rooms even for extra money. Remaining things like everywhere else in cheap hotels. My advise: don't trust in publicated photos and be prepared like for surviving camp.

Wasn’t what it was made out to be at all located in a side street staff were not very helpful only one cleaner that was very nice we were there for a week and are room was cleaned once not the cleaness of hotels could do with a lot of maintenance on it food is not very nice chicken and rice everyday loads of flies walking over the food pool area was nice and bar staff very nice and friendly no entertainment just a dj who played Turkish songs.

Absolutely disgusting dirty our room only got cleaned once reception staff not helpful food was disgusting do not cater for British people it's not on the beach you have to get the shuttle bus to and from there the near by shops rob you and only want euros if you are English stay away from this hotel payed for late check out as wasn't getting picked up till 7.30 and was kicked out of the room at 4pm and they don't have a curtesy room to put your luggage in and get a shower all luggage is in reception so if you aren't by it anyone has access to it and they don't have a first aid kit the hole holiday was a nightmare the only good thing I can say about met so lovely people who made are holiday please stay away

Just awful, the person at the reception made up LIES about something that I can't say here, rooms are so dirty, the people who are supposed to clean the room don't even clean it ,we also got followed somewhere near the hotel and we saw there was a guy from one of the shops we were at was following us (that shop was 15 mins away from where we saw him, and the people at the hotel did NOTHING ABOUT IT not even call the police, NOTHING) Also NOBODY and I mean absolutely NOBODY knows english or any other language other than turkish, overall stay away from this hotel. Please.

We were in this hotel in July, a family of 2+2. Upon arrival at the hotel, it turned out that there was no family room for us and they separated us into two rooms. On the second day in the afternoon we were given a family room. The hotel is quite old but fairly clean. Rooms cleaned daily. The pool is sufficient but I have never seen it cleaned, it was always muddy underfoot.

Now about the food, the kitchen is the hotel's weakest point, it's horrible . There is no choice, we were not hungry but we ate the same every day. The children were hungry, there is nothing for the children. The food was cold. Plates and cutlery were dirty everyday.

The only plus of this hotel are the boys from the service and bartenders. Very friendly and helpful staff. We will never come to this hotel again.

This hotel is horrible.

- General Problems
They only allow internet on the ground floor (not in the rooms).
During the night, they keep the ground floor lights off, which could lead to a serious injury.
There is no lift (elevator) to the top floor, so bringing luggage there will be difficult.
Bringing luggage into the hotel is difficult because there is no ramp to roll the luggage on.
The air conditioning doesn't work in some rooms.
There is a serious fly problem, there are flies everywhere you step.

- Beds
There are insects on the beds.
The beds are very itchy, it is nearly impossible to sleep on them.

- Bathrooms
The bathrooms smell disgusting, it is hard to even use the shower because of the disgusting smell.
In one of the rooms, the toilet was leaking.

- Food
The food is the same every day and it is very bland.
The lunch is yesterday's leftovers from dinner.

- Conclusion
We had to change hotels after one night because of the terrible experience we had with the hotel.
I would not recommended this hotel to anyone at all with the experience my family and I had.
