Reviews
We had enquired about vegan options on the menu a few months prior and were told there was a vegan corner in the restaurant. Unfortunately this was not the case and there was a slight language barrier when it came to the understanding of vegan/vegetarian. We brought this to the attention of the front desk and it all became a bit heated and they were being very defensive. Nothing was clearly labelled and we suggested they could do more to make allergens clearer on the labels when serving food. After leaving the discussion, we were called by the front desk to apologise and they offered us a late check out as good will gesture, we were very appreciative of this and we never wished to cause a fuss, however if we had known our options would have been so limited, we may have reconsidered staying at this hotel. We just wouldn’t want anyone else to have the same issue as us. Like other reviews have suggested, this hotel mainly caters to Russian & German guests and it can be quite difficult making requests at the bar/restaurant when there is a lack of understanding. The pool area is great, the temperature of the pool is cold but you eventually get used to it and the service for drinks was very efficient on roller blades. Another thing I would like to mention is:
Gym - Personal Trainer. He tried approaching me on the first day, trying to offer me private lessons, which I politely declined and I just felt since then he had a problem. I found him quite intimidating and rude and on numerous occasions he interrupted me to say I needed to use a towel (even though he had no issue on the first day) that I needed to use plate stoppers on the bench press (even though no one else had to) I found myself trying to avoid him where possible.
The area of Side is beautiful, the old town is just over an hour walk away along the well laid out promenade. I would strongly suggest this hotel for a family or couple but if you are vegan/vegetarian I would suggest you look at another Country or Hotel as they haven’t quite grasped what veganism is yet.
About rooms: we had a room with side sea view. It was clean and comsy. Minibar had not only soft drinks (cola, fanta, ice team) and beer. We had also snacks.
Drinks was also good. Drinks was made from good quality alcohole. Whole staff was friendly and polite.
I can recommend this hotel. The Quality from its name, can be found almost everywhere.
The negative aspect: very cold pool, both adults and children. If for adults is a conscious choice for children they just want to play. The water was 20 degrees Celsius and the staff tried to explain me that this is normal temperature. The sea was dirty for a a child under 1 and also with very sharp stones, which left the pool the only option.
The staff in the bars and buffet restaurant always did their best to look after and fit all 12 of us in.
People say the resort is mainly for German holiday makers, maybe it is but this didn't cause us any major issues. The explanation of the entertainment and games was mainly in German and a bit more in English would of been nice but the staff are speaking Turkish, German and English. With English being their 3rd language, they may not be perfect but do their best to help and understand. So unless you want to learn Turkish just be a little patient with them.
The only English TV channels are the news, so don't expect much but we don't watch much TV on holiday.
The hotel put on an Oktoberfest event one night, again mainly in German but the effort the hotel went through for one night was amazing and we joined in and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Staff were always cleaning the hotel and providing great service.
Overall a great holiday.
The hotel itself is very modern and clean with great facilities and direct access to the beach.
The food is amazing. The buffet selection is incredible and the additional alla carte restaurants have great food too.
Negative:
The pools are very cold, particularly the kids pool and the indoor pool. Our child could not really swim there due to the cold water (even after a full day of sun).
To note:
Almost all interaction in the hotel is in German, including alot of the entertainment - not an issue but important for those who may not be aware.
