We arrived by car, unfortunately the first impression is not the best. The reception by a concierge was very unfriendly and barely understandable, I only just understood $70 per day for valet, I think it was extortionate. We then parked ourselves. The reception at check-in was more friendly, which you can expect when you book 4 rooms for a week. Anyway, about the rooms, very large and clean, cleaned daily. The building has charm, but in some parts you can see the age, especially in the bathrooms. For breakfast, 30 $ per person for a measly buffet and the cappuccino is extra, what's the point? There's a Starbucks a block away, which is where we went in the morning.
Conclusion: Actually a great hotel, but unfortunately not all the staff realized this. Friendliness doesn't need much.

I never stayed at this hotel overnight but I did go to a couple of weddings at the ballroom. I have to say the whole art deco style is priceless. The grand entrance to this hotel with all its detail is breathtaking. I did get a chance to spend some time at a suite at the hotel and even though you can tell that it's a very old building they renovated the interior to feel very modern. Of course, many do know this is a historic monument.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a great, central location. The room was comfortable and clean and the decor and architecture are gorgeous. The pool is a can’t-miss.
Parking here, at $50/night for self-park, is a ripoff. There is a public garage a block away charging $8. The valet staff is aware of this disparity and do their best to force you into using the hotel’s parking. This included threatening to charge us the hourly rate as we unloaded our car when we arrived and again as we loaded the car when we were about to depart. Both activities took us less than 30 seconds. This was a deeply unwelcome hassle at the start and end of an otherwise great stay

Stunning hotel with so much history. Rooms are huge and beds so comfy.
Definitely recommend taking advantage of the afternoon tea (only available on Saturdays). Tea service was exceptional. Hats off to Mady Romero and her staff. And violinist set the mood perfectly.

Beautiful hotel. Older building that has been meticulously maintained. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The bed was very comfortable. The shower had incredible water pressure and all the facilities were in excellent condition. Just down the hill from Disney Hall. Easy walk to restaurants.

- So much noise in the rooms, could not sleep at all when the nextdoor flush the toilets or opend the water you could hear it all And their alarm turned on early in morning and woke me up too
