Andaz 5th Avenue, By Hyatt Hotel

Great location, confusing check-in area, but wonderful and accommodating evening staff. Morning staff during breakfast rush wasn’t as pleasant (5/6), but oh well. Room was clean, spacious, and the bed was firm yet comfortable. Didn’t love being able to hear my hotel neighbor on their 7am work call, though. Enjoyed the complimentary amenities, especially the 5-8pm wine hour in the lobby.

Breakfast was hearty and delicious. Would’ve loved more available booth seating in the restaurant. The wooden table top seating was not comfortable. Received good service from staff at the restaurant. All in all, a pleasant experience.

Great stay as usual, this is my go-to Hyatt in midtown as they treat Globalists well. The mattresses and pillows are fantastic. The fitness center is well considered with plenty of weight and cardio options (although dumbbells only go up to 50 lbs). And breakfast is a little more creative than your typical hotel breakfast, which I really appreciate. Finally, almost all the staff interactions are top notch, especially the front desk. And who doesn’t love the coffee in the lobby in the morning and the wine hour in the evening? The rooms and design is aging well, but may need a modest refresh soon.

A good choice for business trips, with a terrace or balcony

Ok, so this hotel is very expensive, so I can’t usually stay here when traveling for work (shoutout Hyatt Centric Times Square who will give you an awesome room if you’re a Globalist) but when using rewards travel or taking a long weekend in the city it’s typically our go to. My only critique would be that the rooms need a renovation (still nicer than most hotels) and I don’t like when hotels don’t put a door between the shower and bedroom but besides that it’s pretty much perfect

1: location is about as good as it gets for anything other than the financial district
2: hotel staff, especially front desk, are as good as it gets. They let us choose which room we wanted as a free upgrade (Globalist travel, but still, that never happens). Ended up with an amazing Andaz Suite!
3: one of the most comfortable beds you’re going to find in a hotel. This is a top priority for me as a light sleeper, but this combined with the motorized black out shades on all the windows I sleep amazingly every time.
4: for a mid size NYC hotel, they have a fantastic gym. It’s never crowded and all the equipment is brand new and very varied. Funny I’ve never seen a rowing machine with a 20” screen attached to it lol.
5: food, while not cheap, is way better than most hotels, even high-end. Also, having Globalist room delivered breakfast for free is amazing.
6: new TVs: this might not matter to you, but as a huge basketball fan being here during March Madness, this was huge.

The room is very big, and the bathroom is also very big, which is surprising. I booked a city view room, the window faces Fifth Avenue, opposite the New York Public Library and Manhattan high-rise buildings, the view is very good. The hotel lobby provides coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. There is a Japanese supermarket opposite the hotel, which is very convenient for shopping. The hotel breakfast is made to order and the taste is satisfactory.

Good service overall but the Andaz suite is too small to house 4 people.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! Our stay here was simply amazing! The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The room was beautiful and the location was close to everything we could need. I highly recommend staying here if you're visiting New York. You won't regret it!
