We had a wonderful Time in this top hotel. Absolutely perfect and the Rooftop Bar is awesome. The drinks are also high class and Owen one of the Barkeeper made high class Drinks!

After 10+ years of twice annual travel to The City, we finally found our regular, go-to, never-disappoints hotel! Modernhaus is BEAUTIFUL with a cool art vibe, good coffee house on-site (but a better one right across the street!), great gym, awesome pool and rooftop bar scene. The rooms are the best we’ve had in NYC - clean, modern, maximizing daylight, just awesome. The shower is crazy-good! But what really puts this place over the top is the front desk (and all of the) staff. It is rare to find consistently friendly desk staff at NYC hotels but the reception team at ModernHaus nailed it every single time we came and went. Quick to hand out umbrellas when you need them, champagne when you’re thirsty, and directions to dinner, we felt right at home. Will be back!!

Although the room was small compared to other hotels where I've stayed, the service was excellent, and the location was perfect. This was our 10th wedding anniversary, and after spending the entire day away from the hotel, we returned to a bottle of champagne, two delicious chocolate chip cookies, and a congratulations card. However, be prepared; as this is Manhattan, most things are pricey, including the rooftop bar, which is well-decorated and has a nice ambiance, but since the weather was mostly non-cooperative, we didn't get to use it as often as we would've liked. Kudos to the staff, and I would definitely stay there again!

We had a really great stay here. The staff were friendly and regularly checked in to see if we needed anything, the room was comfortable, decor was lovely, and having coffee/food/drink options on site was convenient. The location was ideal, being on a quiet street (for New York) but still being walking distance to restaurants and shopping. We travelled with our dog and the staff were very accommodating to her. There is also a park with grass around the corner which was convenient for city potty breaks. We would stay again!

The scenery on the top floor of the hotel is very good, you can watch the sunrise and sunset.

Location is peaceful, easy to navigate to other parts of the city by metro. Breakfast was delicious and the building interiors are gorgeous. Best part was the room view (corner studio).

First stay at this hotel, location is amazing and Jimmy's upstairs is great. Rooms are well appointed and i liked the blue tooth speaker.
However the hotel and the way its run is another matter. First off The bathrooms are nice but there toiletries leave a lot to be desired, smells like they fill bottles up with old spice generic stuff, i went out and got Kiehls travel supplies. Did not use any of there products as i found them to be sub standard, i have gotten better body wash from Holiday inns.
i think its really sneaky having a "hotel facility fee" that you are charged daily at $40. I was told i prepaid my room and taxes and the only fees i would be charged are ones i billed to my room. The kicker was when i went to check out they tried to charge me $250 for smoking in the room. I didnt smoke in the room and the evidence they provided was a picture of ground up left over marijuana, it wasnt ash, it was fresh and was left over after i rolled a joint but i never smoked in the room. I dont smoke cigarettes. For them to just jump to a conclusion without any actual evidence (if i see a towel crumpled up on floor and assume you took a shower, is not the only reason a towel could of found its way to the floor).
All of these sneaky un-warranted charges really ruined my stay here. If they were up front and stated that they would charge you $40 a day to facilitate your stay at the hotel, or if they informed you when the supposed smoking infraction occurred and not just add $250 to your bill not mention it and hope you will just sign and not examine bill. I recommend a thorough examination of your charges and dispute them if you feel they are not correct. Would not stay here again as i dont like being cheated. Which is basically what they are doing by charging me $40 a day to facilitate me

I previously posted a really nice review about The James Soho, but Google is prompting a review so here we go...the James is hospitality done right. Quiet, low-key professionalism, very easy check-in each time we've gone, immaculate rooms/suites and bathrooms, awesome views of the streets of NY and the sky (we love the corner rooms), and it seems like they have a really nice signature scent wafting throughout the whole place. The upstairs bar lounge has an outdoor area and pool, and again the views are wonderful! Really cool music, dim lighting, and a great layout makes it feel sophisticated and cool at the same time...and don't get me started on the food from the David Burke Kitchen downstairs...amazing food! Where else can you have lobster salad on endive leaves and bacon hanging on a clothesline all in the same place?? The James is upscale, the staff is always helpful and friendly, and we always look forward to going back. Thank you, James Soho!

The James Hotel is hospitality done right. The first thing you notice upon entering is the very pleasant smell wafting through the whole place. Entire staff from the concierge to the people who bring you room service are very friendly and helpful. My husband and I stayed there on our anniversary for a few days during New Year's 2018 and hotel management was very kind to us...Caposaldo is our new prosecco! We've stayed there about 3 times over the last two years, excellent service every single time! The rooms/suites are immaculate and I just love the bathrooms. They should really get 10 stars because of how comfortable and welcomed they make you feel. We see zero reason to stay any where else when we visit the city. Thank you James!
