Reviews
When we got in, the front desk refused to speak to me until my husband got back from parking the car. Then no one helped us with our bags.
Next we went to shower off, the showers only have hot water sporadically.
We caught the valet lying about parking to my father in law twice. Once he told him that a meter across the street was broken and he should park there (it wasn’t broken), he also lied and said the parking garage next door wasn’t open on weekends. Tricked my father in law into paying the extortionate 70$ to park overnight.
The worst was the bartender. We came down for a night cap after a hockey game. This guy accused me of being too drunk to serve. I’d had two beers at the game, and had walked back to the hotel with my family an hour before. He slammed a Heineken in front of my husband and put a gin and tonic and a to go cup for me. I’ve been a bartender for almost a decade, and rule 1 is not to serve anyone you think has a had too much. Second, I was clearly coherent. Then I saw it. They were closing and he was trying to get rid of us. Just be honest instead of insulting us. Totally unnecessary and rude.
1. There was a roach next to the mini-fridge.
2. The food was dry and was not seasoned well
3. The view was bad. All we saw was the tops of buildings.
4. The hotel wasn’t very kid-friendly. It was trying to hard to be fancy, authentic or old-fashioned.
5. Some spots in our room didn’t look all that clean
The surrounding areas are nice and safe. Highly recommended.
A Disappointing Stay at the Westin City Center
My recent stay at the Westin City Center in Washington DC was an utter disappointment. When i got off the elevator there were bricks and equipment. My room furniture was old and dated. There were tiny flies that seemed to be everywhere - my room, the gym, the hotel bar, and even at breakfast. It was incredibly unpleasant and made my stay quite uncomfortable.
To make matters worse, the bathroom shower was covered in mildew or mold, which was not only unsightly but also potentially hazardous to my health. On my last day, I was unable to shower at all due to a mysterious black piece of debris that was lodged right below the shower drain. It was a gross and unsanitary situation that should never have been allowed to occur.
To add insult to injury, the rate for my room was supposed to be the GSA government rate $275/night. I confirmed this when i checked in. When i checked out the rate was different. When i discussed with the manager they said there was nothing they can do and now i have to pay the difference because my job will not reimburse. This is an additional $135 expense i have to pay personally for a hotel stay that was terrible.
The gym was another disappointment. Not only did it smell terrible, but many of the weights had rust, making it unsafe to use.
The air conditioner in my room made a loud noise every few hours, which disturbed my sleep and made it difficult to relax. And if that wasn't enough, the walls were so thin that I could hear my neighbor coughing all night long.
Overall, my stay at the Westin City Center was a complete disaster. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. As a titanium member this is one of my worst hotel experiences. I stayed here after traveling to dc from a funeral and the hotel conditions were depressing causing me even more sadness.
