The Old Clare by Ode Hotels
Sydney, 1 Kensington Street 🧭 Map
The rooftop pool was a great experience. The staff was extremely friendly
I stayed 5 nights in this hotel, very nice and clean. Only I personally do not think it is a 5 star hotel. There was no help to bring the suitcases to the room. Also I find it a pity that you cannot sit comfortably in the lobby, there are many awkward chairs and not really a nice sofa.
Also there is no toothbrush, showercap or any other toiletries in the bathroom. In addition, 2 times they forgot...
If you are booking this hotel for the rooftop pool, choose somewhere else. It was very disappointing; 4 cheap/ugly/weathered day beds teetering on on the edge of the pool as there isn't room for them (I've posted a photo of one IN the pool - glad I wasn't on it at the time), no other appropriate hotel poolside seating, the pool is unheated, no service, and a public bar beside it that is either full...
Excellent hotel! Wow, wow, wow. This place is simply charming and cool. The staff are friendly and welcoming and look happy to be at work. The rooms are functional and a vibe. Floorboards are fresh and clean, great natural clean smell. Beds are comfy, the kind that you sink into. Bathroom is a class enclosure with frosted panels for some privacy.
The rooftop pool is awesome with long opening hours...
Came for dinner last week on the Rooftop Bar. Drinks were exquisitely nice and staff were friendly, especially this bar guy wearing pink shirt. Hardworking, service with a smile and some great humour. Keep up the good work! Definitely recommend it :)
Loved the hand-written welcome note. Friendly reception staff. Comfortable bed and had a great sleep here. I wish there was some public parking closer but at least Novotel Central is cheap for night rate or weekends, just a bit of a hike with luggage. I haven’t had a chance to try the rooftop pool yet but it looks enticing, need to visit again in warmer weather :)

Hotel had excellent service and great room in a historic building. We enjoyed our stay
The Establishment hotel is wonderful! The hotel has so much character and
The location is absolutely perfect.
Always a memorable stay at The Establishment!
We have stayed here a number of times and we cannot fault the team at The Establishment. It’s certainly a favourite of ours in Sydney. Thank you for making our stay so memorable yet again.
Excellent property and would be even better if they had noise control or insulation in walls and windows so you don’t hear everything.
Amazing staff, could not ask for a better location in the city, surrounded by phenomenal bars and restaurants. Our corner room was very noisy, could hear all the street noise and everything from the hallway and adjacent rooms. Would definitely stay again
Great looking room.
Nicely furnished room with an excellent mini bar and sound system. Quite noisy as rooms are not sound proofed. Problematic hot water as takes about 3 mins to get hot and not much pressure. Nice bathtub but took too long to fill so could not use it. Mattress was a bit past its prime and the flashing smoke alarm was mounted directly above the bed so was annoying while trying to sleep...

The front desk service was very good and the location was easy to find. It might be because the price of 160AU/night in the off-season was better than many apartments, so we moved here after staying in the apartment for 4 nights. It should be noted that the check-out time is early, which is 9:00-10:00 local time, and the check-in time needs to be after 14:00
Nice stay in a clean room. It is close to the train and bus which makes transport to the city easy. Only downside was the wifi. Of the 4 nights we only had wifi 1 night.
The staff were friendly, and it was pretty quiet. The room was also nice, however the shower had big gaps for water to escape, there was some hair left on the drain and the shower toiletries were empty.
The overall stay experience is good, and the price/performance ratio is quite high. The room facilities are very new and clean. The front desk service attitude is very good and they also help to call a taxi. It is a 15-minute walk from the Chinese district Chatswood, and there is a bus stop next to it. Recommended.
Friendly service, clean rooms, will come again next time
This hotel has meticulous service and clean and comfortable rooms. It is conveniently located and surrounded by many delicious foods. I will choose this hotel again next time!

I love the hotel, the big room, the neighborhood, the nearby shops, cafes, pizza, burgers, parks, etc
The staff are super friendly. The location is excellent, very close to Oxford St and in close walking distance to the CBD and other local attractions. The beds are comfy, the rooms are quiet, large, well appointed and the AC works well. The hallways and rooms are dated and in desperate need of an update. The art on the walls in the rooms are interesting- they could have been done by the hotel staff...
Pretty nice hotel considering the price and the fact that it is Sydney. The rooms are comfy and clean. The hotel is nicely situated, close to bus stations and 10min walk from Central train station, which makes it easy to go to the best tourist sites in Sydney or go on one day trips like blue mountains. The staff is very helpful and explained us everything we needed to know to go around the city. We...
This is very good hotel in the Surry hills area of Sydney. For the purposes that I wanted, a quick vacation after a work trip so I wanted a moderately priced centrally located hotel that was not a dive. This hotel fits that bill. It’s a 15-20 min walk/train/bus ride from the main attractions of the Sydney harbour district (Cicular Quay) and Darling Harbour. The location is quite convenient, even though...
My friend and I stayed at the Cambridge Hotel while visiting Sydney and it was wonderful! The front desk was very helpful and friendly. Always a smile on their faces when we walked by. Our rooms were made up nicely every time we got back from our day trips and breakfast was wonderful! Vino, the manager greeted us every morning with a big smile on his face which made the start to every day great!

Arrived Saturday 11am, frantically busy with departures and arrivals. Staff kept calm and accepted our considerable luggage securely, so we could start enjoying ourselves immediately. They placed our luggage in room, for when we returned early at 1.30, and it was 30 minutes earlier, than they said it would be. Hotel sited perfectly for ease of walking to all sites of interest, spotlessly clean modern...

The room was basic, comfortable, and clean. The mattress was comfortable as were pillows. Tea and coffee facilities were nice with a big TV. The bathroom was well appointed and clean. Numerous fast food outlets within 2 minutes walk. There is also the ability to buy drinks and snacks at reception. Close proximity to both domestic and international terminals.
Managed to book a room fairly last minute as my flight was cancelled and moved to the next day. Within walking distance of the airport although I Uber'd for $13. The room was nice, and the bed was very comfy. Plenty of floor space for luggage and even a mounted device for holding a suitcase (I think, didn't need to use it). The shower was a bit annoying since there was low water pressure, but this...
In my opinion you can't beat the location for the price. We needed an overnight to fly into Sydney and out to Jakarta the next day. The room was not large, but it was clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a ledge in the bathroom above the sink for our toiletries - something I appreciate when there is no counter around the sink. Don't plan to dance in the bathroom - it's small, but completely...
Great value for money and the rooms, although on the small size, were super quiet! Bed comfy and there are some fast food places within walking distance. Good for a transit. It's budget but in a good way!
Friendly , helpful service. If you want a hotel that's close to airport and cheap, then it's okay. Kind of hard to get here on foot from the airport , there's a shuttle you can use.

Small and old room. But clean! Close to everything. There is no time to stay in the room. Good breakfast.
We found the services in the Great Southern Hotel Sydney to be excellent. We arrived late on our first stay prior to a cruise and very early after our cruise and was still able to access our hotel room with ease and they were very helpful to us at this time of the night.

Location was perfect to be able to take in the beautiful sights of Sydney. Close to the train too. Loved the decor of the lobby. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. We would love to stay there again.
Location is excellent for catching Light rail across the road or the train couple minutes away. The room have all the basics. Bathrooms a little dated but that's not a big deal. It's my go place to stay in Sydney.😀
The trip.com site didn't put up clearly that the room I booked was without houskeeping. No problem for me but I can imagine there are some people who wants a clean towel everyday. Trams stop in front of the hotel and the trainstation to get the train to the airport is 5 minutes around the corner. The staff were very friendly besides the one time ther was no fruit and yoghurt for breakfast. So I waisted...
The facilities are old and the beds are narrow for 2 persons. The breakfast of the hotel is AU $17 and the teethbrushes are not provided. The location is in China Town and Central Railway station.
Excellent location right off the light rail and bus lines. It’s a perfect location and quality of hotel. The beds were wonderful and firm. We loved our room and nice bathroom. Good location. Friendly front desk staff. We walked from this hotel to Sydney Opera House, Chinatown, Crown Hotel. Walkable to many tourist spots. Definitely will stay again if visiting Sydney again.
Very good place near the train station
Also very cheaper in town
Stayed 3 nights at a hotel in central Sydney - very satisfied. Great location, clean, quiet, and a comfy bed. Friendly staff. A solid choice for a short stay
Good service. Walls abit thin but overall nice. Gave 2 bottle of water when checking in. Near many attraction too so definitely easy to go.
Hotel was located by William Street, and about 5minutes walk from Kings Cross Station. Room was decently sized and the bed was comfortable.
Will book again here soon. The Staffs are nice and approachable!
I had to specifically ask the receptionist to command cleaning staff to do the minimum cleaning of room and bathroom but even after that the level of cleaning inside the restaurant I’m is far below expectations and minimum

Had dinner here on Saturday night and the service was amazing. Our waiter was Drew and we felt like we were at a 5 star restaurant. He was prompt with everything, nothing was missing from the order (we are pretty fussy customers) and he refilled our water glasses whenever they got low. Seriously the best service, thanks again Drew! There’s not many polite, friendly and highly capable waiters like you...
Very good night felt a bit uncomfortable with Indian bouncer kept staring at me. When I was out happy a fantastic night. Enjoyed the Cocktails and the Espresso Martinis loved it. Halo Bouncer just didn't just give it 5 Stars
I have Scotch fillet or Rib-eye everywhere I go and this Rib-eye would be the Second best I’ve ever had!! Top Shelf ??
The only one that has only just pipped it to second was the Rib-eye at Port Lincoln Hotel in SA.
Pub style room, very basic accommodation. Good enough if you're just looking for somewhere to stay for the night. Great location and pretty quiet in the room. Drinks from the bar were fine. Very convenient place to stay if you're looking for a weekend away with a swim in a Sydney beach.

Size wise it's great, we had a two bedroom apartment for three people. Only stayed one night for work purposes but did the job and did not feel like some hotels where space is an issue, if anything there was more space than we needed! Bathroom was a bit mouldy but what do you expect for under 250 dollars a night for a serviced two bedroom apartment. Besides that all good!
Parramatta apartment all rooms are 2 bed with rooms with good living and dining area
Great location in a great price. The rooms are clean. Hug space. Good service. Defiantly will book my room again with them.
Good place! Should book according to the amount of people you have so that you'll have a great experience and more space.

If you want a room small enough to swing a cat, this is the hotel for you. If you want a hotel where you just need a bed because you are seeing live sport or concerts, this hotel is also for you! Very clean, but more basic than basic.
The staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful and worthy of much fancier hotels. Top marks there.
The bed was comfortable enough, but there were powerpoints only on one side. Don't expect to get soap or shampoo here. You'll need your own. The bathroom was separated from the main room by only a curtain.
There were only two pillows provided for the whole room...
Basic, tidy rooms with coffee making facilities and fridge. Vending machines with icecreams/drinks/travel accessories. Short walk to restaurants and exhibition halls. Really happy and helpful staff. Coin-operated laundry makes this hotel perfect for my travel this time in the ugly weather in NSW. Thanks.
Very spacious room. The location is right at the heart of CBD. Very near bus stations.. will definitely recommend to others.
The hotel is located next to Hyde Park, which is very convenient for travel and to various attractions. The front desk staff is attentive and enthusiastic, and any problems can be solved in time. The room has a refrigerator and microwave, and you can make a simple breakfast. There are supermarkets and restaurants around. The room is very soundproof. Stayed for 4 nights, it is worth recommending
My whole family stay there for 4 days, their staff are very friendly and assist us to move the luggage due to the stairs and wheelchair issue. Meanwhile the room is quite big and comfortable.
The overall experience is very good~
The internal environment is too bad, broken and old, the bathroom makes people dare not even wash the shower beans, and it is so expensive, I don't recommend staying here

Local pub near work in Surry Hills. Good lunch specials for $18, food is pretty good for the price too. Bar staff are great. Can get busy on concert nights at one of the stadiums due to it's proximity to central station. I'm my opinion, the best of the 3 pubs working 20 metres of each other.

Breakfast, location, staff and very tidy facilities
My partner stayed here while travelling to Sydney. We chose the place for the good price but will definitely book again, for her or the both of us when in Sydney, due to the excellent service, clean and tidy room and free brekkie. Provided bag storage when you checkout, which is great for anyone going to the US consulate down the street as you’re not supposed to being anything inside.
Excellent location. Close to multiple transport options.
Beautiful gardens and tranquillity in the heart of Sydney.
The new accommodation is exceptional and such a serene environment in a bustling city. Unfortunately due to an 0800 work commitment unable to attend mass at the beautiful chapel so cannot wait to return with my family and share the experience.
Simple free breakfast a bonus and plentiful, better than 5 star hotel continental offering.
Modern, clean and brilliant location with friendly staff. Nice continental breakfast and comfy rooms with Netflix. All for a great price.

This was our second stay at the Comfort Inn North Shore. The location is ideal, our room was lovely with views and the service was perfect. Call the motel direct to receive the best deal. We highly recommend staying here whilst in Sydney.
Good for what we needed, a room for one night. Very clean, dark block out curtains, comfortable bed/pillows, convenient free parking (rare in Sydney). We didn't order room service, just walked 500m to a Cafe for breakfast. Would stay again.
Great experience of staying in this motel during our easter break. We booked 3 rooms with group of 10. Staff was very friendly and nice. Room was clean, toiletries were enough for 3 adults each room.
Just the exhaust fan doesn’t work in bathroom.
Everything else was good and recommended for everyone
I don't normally stay in a motel when I go to Sydney, but this place was pleasant, very clean room, and super quiet at night, close to Lane Cove shops, staff extremely friendly. Would recommend 👌
Good place silent and peaceful area, plenty of parking. The only drawback is it doesnt have big enough wardrobe. Single door wardrobe is not enough for a month stay.
Changing my rating to 5 start.
