Convenient Location, But Lacks the Expected Luxury

My stay at the Hyatt Regency Sydney offered a mix of convenience and shortcomings that left me with mixed feelings. The hotel's location is undoubtedly its strongest asset, being well-situated for both business and leisure travelers looking to explore the city. Additionally, the staff at the hotel were notably helpful and courteous, striving to assist guests despite the apparent challenges of managing a bustling property.

However, the experience begins to diverge from what one might expect from a purported five-star establishment as soon as you observe the dining area during breakfast hours. The food is excellent but its a common sight to find as many as ten people queued up waiting to be seated, which immediately signals a strain on the hotel's capacity to provide a relaxed and exclusive dining experience.

A particularly disappointing aspect for me was the lack of certain amenities that I would consider standard for a hotel of this calibre . The absence of an espresso machine in the room was a letdown for someone who enjoys starting the day with a good cup of coffee. Moreover, while an ice machine is available, the lack of ice buckets seems like an oversight that compromises convenience. The provision of glasses only in the bathroom further detracts from the overall comfort and utility of the room.

Parking is another area where the hotel falls short. Without valet parking services and with all designated spots in the adjacent Wilsons Parking facility being occupied, the logistics of managing a vehicle during the stay become unnecessarily complicated and frustrating.

My overall impression was the Hyatt Regency Sydney boasts an excellent location and friendly staff, it struggles to deliver the seamless and luxurious experience one might expect from a five-star hotel. The inconveniences related to dining, room amenities, and parking significantly detract from the overall value of a stay here. For those seeking the full five-star experience, it may be worth considering other options.

Terrible experience! You do expect a sense of hospitality when you stay in a five star Hyatt hotel, but unfortunately that’s not the case here.

We kept “ Don’t make my room “ sign on, as there is no Do Not Disturb option, yet the staff kept knocking on the door asking if we need our room cleaned.

Basic expectation is to get a good sleep while on vacation, which is impossible here at this hotel. Room doors don’t have a soft closing mechanism and early morning all the adjacent rooms are banging ( like a drum roll ). We were waken up every day in extremely unpleasant way and the noise keeps on going all morning long. The staff has no sense of hospitality. When they see a sign on the door should respect that while cleaning around, but NO - vacuuming next to the door, banging stuff around, you can hear even the trash bins from the adjustment room being dropped on the floor.

When they wet the carpets to clean, they stink !

Pillows are too hard to sleep on.

The view is side ways to the harbour ! We see the roof of the aquarium and some other buildings, not at all as the photos on the website while booking.

Overall extremely unpleasant experience. Not recommended for people looking for a peaceful vacation.
