Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt

The hotel looks really nice, great location 2 min walk from the train station.
The biggest disappointment was breakfast, there was some kind of emergency (although no explanation or apology was given) and it was served in the conference room, with staff frantically running around setting tables. Only cold food was served with a lot of basic things missing (cereal, jam, honey etc.), It was very crowded with only one coffee machine and small food corner for the whole hotel.

Housekeeping will knock on your door even if the do not disturb sign is hanging. We stayed here on 05 July 2024 and the next morning around 9am housekeeping knocked on the door. We then put the do not disturb sign out. At 10:00am housekeeping knocked again even though the sign was there. Later, at reception the same morning, as we waited to checkout, the receptionist was on the telephone with a hotel guest asking them to stop shouting at them. Well it turned out the guest was complaining that housekeeping had been knocking on their door even though the do not disturb sign was out. The girl at reception was telling the guest they must have got the sign the wrong way around, and it was his word against the house keeper which didn't seem very fair. We told the receptionist the same happened to us. So if you got woken up and disturbed by housekeeping then ask for a complaint form at reception so something gets done.

This is mainly a business hotel, I wouldn't book this for your private travel. They host conferences, and they don't have separate areas for attendees and regular guests. One morning, as soon breakfast opened at 6:30, about a hundred loud conference-goers rushed in, not exactly peaceful. In front of the hotel there is also an open bar/disco called capital beach, which is open until 1AM and will blast music that you'll hear in your room. Reception will call the police so that they put the volume down, but they are on every night. Overall, I would say this hotel has low value for money for private travel.

We loved our stay at this hotel . It's location is great , also within walking distance to most tourist sights. Room was nice and comfortable, however I have one issue.
At checkin , 50 euros was deducted from our visa card. We were told that city tax of 12.23 euros would be deducted from that amount and the balance would be credited to our visa card. Till date we have not received the balance , nor reply to our emails.
Besides this , we enjoyed our stay.
