Hilton Hotel in Mainz

I stayed at the Hilton Mainz for a business trip and overall had a good experience, though there were a few issues that I hope the hotel addresses.

The location is fantastic. Right on the river with lovely views and an easy walk to the city centre. The meeting rooms were excellent and the breakfast was surprisingly good. The buffet served during our conference for lunch and dinner was also exceptional.

The room itself was clean and quiet, but I did run into several maintenance problems. The heating didn’t work, and it took about an hour and a half and three calls to reception before someone came to fix it. Unfortunately it stopped working again a few hours later, and the only solution offered was a small space heater. The hair dryer in the room also didn’t work, and after calling reception three times with no answer I ended up borrowing one from a colleague’s room. WiFi was also unreliable and frequently cut out, especially in the evenings. Amenities in the room were minimal and the water bottles weren’t replenished during cleaning; the empty bottles were just left behind.

Dinner at the restaurant was underwhelming (the schnitzel was bland, the fries oily, and the mushroom sauce quite sour), which contrasted with how good the breakfast and conference catering were.

Despite the issues, I would consider staying here again because of the location, breakfast, and meeting facilities. I would just expect basic room functions like heating, WiFi, and working appliances to be checked more carefully, especially in the winter.

I will always come back to this hotel. It has garage and you are within walking distance to the downtown area. The pillows are fluffy and bed are comfortable. They have a restaurant and bar. The staff knows English among other languages. Great place!

Love coming here. Breakfast is amazing, including fresh squeezed orange juice. Staff is very friendly, rooms are clean, beds super comfortable. Bathrooms are small but very well utilized with a great walk in shower (Rhine Wing).

Overall, my stay at the hotel was good. The room was clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need. The only downside was that the room was relatively cold, and the air conditioning/heating system did not work properly. Other than that, everything was fine.

This is a premium hotel in a great location.

Pros:

- rooms are very spacious with lots of desk and counter space
- staff were friendly
- ample and convenient parking
- good water pressure
- air conditioning that works
- they actually have face cloths - wow! not common in Europe

Cons:

- there are special instructions to access the parking garage; some guests in our group were advised by their check-in agent, others were not; this resulted in needless confusion and inconvenience
- instructions are needed if your room happens to be in the 2nd building across the street; again, some in our group were given these instructions, some were not

Great location and lovely breakfast by the river, will definitely come back!

This hotel has for sure the nicest view in Mainz, and only a few minutes from the city center. Just be aware that the rooms with view to the Rhein-river obviously have different categories, hence prices, to avoid being disappointed.

Very nice location - it is easy to reach the sights of Mainz and also to have a stroll along the river. During my stay there was some construction, that was not very pleasant. Also, make sure you are staying in the main building, or you will have to walk a long way with luggage... and help was not offered, although I had 2 suitcases. European hotel rooms tend to be small and drab - that was the case here too.
