Dorint Pallas Wiesbaden

The worst hotel experience I have ever had - when I arrived to the hotel I was told that “there was a situation” and my BOOKING WAS CANCELLED BY THE HOTEL, because I arrived to the property after 6 pm - I have never experienced something similar earlier in my life. The booking was done one month earlier and in the confirmation email it was not mentioned anything about such a policy.
As a result they told me that I will be sharing a room with another colleague, because the hotel is fully booked. It seems the hotel does not care about the customers and the reputation at all.

I was really looking forward to stay at this hotel but it turned out to be an organisational nightmare. I arrived at Dorint Pallas with a couple of my coworkers since we were going to attend internetional conference nearby. Soon we found out that our reservations were cancelled because we arrived after 6 pm and we didn’t confirm our „late” arrival. It never works like this for reservations made via booking. I was allowed to cancel my reservation cost-free before 6pm and if I don’t cancel and I don’t arrive I would just pay the whole price since the reservation was secured with a company credit card. But for some reason the hotel decided to cancel my reservation. I was advised to look for other accommodation outside of Wiesbaden, e.g. Mainz since the whole city was booked due to the conference. My take is that the hotel knew exactly what it was doing. It sold our rooms to other people for higher price due to conference and intended to squeeze me and my coworkers in shared rooms. Eventually, they offered me and my coworker a room to share which we accepted due to lack of alternatives. However, it was far from comfortable to share a very private space with someone who you work mainly remotly with. It was my worst hotel experience ever. Highly don’t recommend.

Edit: This is my response to the hotel’s reply. My reservation was secured with a company credit card as I mentioned in my original review. Also, in my reservation confirmation mail there was no information that I have to confirm my arrival before 6 pm, it only said that I am allowed to cancel my reservation cost-free before 6 pm. My company made online reservation for me and secured it with a company credit card exactly for me to not have to call you and confirm my arrival. If I didn’t arrive the hotel still would get the whole payment for my stay. So there was no risk of any loss for the hotel. There is no excuse for your unprofessional service.
