I stayed with by partner for 2 nights. The hotel loby is very fancy and spacious. There is an elevator that works with a hotel card, same to open the room. The restaurant for the breakfast it's located on the 1st floor and it was quite rich.
On my -1 it's located their spa zone. The spa however it is not exactly part of the hotel it's an external company, so you need to call to book a slot and that slot is 30 minutes only per day per person, which I didn't find written on their website.
The other surprise it is that they have 150€ deposit for incidentals.
The hotel is located on la Ramble, sadly with the current construction is loosing its charm and the fact that is at la Ramble is actually a disadvantage. The street itself where the hotel is it's a quiet and clean one but as soon as you reach the main one it becomes dirty and also doesn't feel very safe. Multiple people in thr evenings trying to sell weed, lots of homeless people.
Our room was on the 2nd floor and had a view to an indoor "artificial garden". It was quiet.
The room itself was nice, huge bed, tall ceilings.

My wife and I stay in room 433 from November 29th until December 2nd, and we were very pleased with all aspects of your hotel. I spent several years in management in the hotel industry, and I believe in customer service above everything else. Your hotel staff didn't disappoint me in that area. Everyone we dealt with did an outstanding job, friendly, polite, professional, and knowledgeable. Second the decor was outstanding, the woodwork was amazing. Third, every part of the hotel was immaculate. No matter when we can in or out every area in the hotel was spotless. Forth, the restaurant was amazing, the staff there were tops. Every requested was handled with smiles, and quickness. We plan on returning to Barcelona someday, and we'll stay at Hotel 1898. Thank you for a lovely stay in Barcelona.

I recently stayed at this hotel on November 13-15,2025. The hotel was fantastic. The location was ideal, the facilities were clean and our room was impeccable. I was visiting a few cities in Europe on this trip and this hotel was way above others. It was a girls trip for my friend and I. We were celebrating our birthdays. The restaurant upstairs sang to us and it just added that extra touch of glamour to the sophisticated atmosphere. The front desk staff were very polite and the bartenders were friendly. The one employee that stood out was Alberto Arce. He was the security guard for the hotel. He was always on post and gave us tips on where to go and sites to see. If we needed towels or something for the room, he would come up in a flash. He was personable, professional and I could see the passion he had for his job. I definitely felt safe with him protecting us. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to visit Barcelona.

The hotel is elegant, pleasant, and beautiful. The service was very professional, polite, and friendly. The location is really good. There was construction on the Rambla, which is currently spoiling the whole area but luckily, it wasn't audible inside the hotel. progress on it is painfully slow and there are very few construction workers on site. Our room was spacious, the mattress was huge and comfortable, and the bathroom was sufficient for two people.
I would add some constructive comments, though.
The spa was very beautiful, but unfortunately when we were there, the sauna steam room was out of play, which was disappointing. you were allowed 30 minutes complimentary use of the spa area which was complimentary.
I’ve particular note was the very efficient and professional young reception team earn cocktail staff..
There is a lovely pool on the roof with some lovely lounges to sit on and a bar. Don’t forget to pop upstairs to use it.
All in all a super hotel, which we will definitely use again.
One really useful note at the top of the road there is a square I think it was called Catalan Square. You can get the a two or A1 bus for €7.50 to take you back to Barcelona airport very useful for people like us who like to get about using the local transport and not just taxis which can be expensive at times. The bus only took about 30 minutes which was the same as our taxi from the airport.

This stay was a present for my partner’s 30th birthday. I specifically chose this hotel because it offered a sauna and steam room. Unfortunately, when we checked in, we were not informed that these facilities were out of service. Later, when we asked for directions to the spa, we were told that only the hydromassage pool was available.
I was disappointed, as we don’t usually book hotels this expensive, and I had chosen it especially for my partner’s birthday. The staff offered to make up for it with complimentary breakfast or a drink, which was a lovely gesture, but I would have appreciated an email before our arrival mentioning that some facilities were unavailable. I had the option to cancel the reservation the day before, and I likely would have done so. When I booked the spa slots in advance via email, there was no mention of the issue either.
The room itself was not particularly special for the price paid—some things were broken. It wasn’t a major problem, but at this price point, I expected everything to be in excellent condition.
Overall, while the staff were absolutely lovely and helpful, the stay didn’t feel worth the cost. For next time, I think it’s better to book a more affordable hotel if you’re planning to spend most of your time outside anyway.

The hotel is very clean and the services is excellent! I love the SPA at the hotel! The location of the hotel is awesome very close to supermarket and good restaurants! It is very centrally located!

The most satisfying hotel in Spain! !
Superb service, the front desk lady was very enthusiastic, she came early and let me put down my luggage, and recommended delicious and fun things nearby.
The hotel's spa is also very good, and the room is very comfortable.

Had a great stay at H1898. Hotel is very centrally located and in a busy street of La Rambla. Bus stations and metro very close which was also a plus. Hotel was beautiful and very clean. My room was cleaned very well every day for which a big thank you to the lady who left my room tidy. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would especially like to thank Laia and Iris from the reception for all the possible and good care! Big thank you dear Laia and Iris. A definitely recommended hotel. If I ever go back to Barcelona I would book here again without thinking!

Our experience was amazing. First, special Kudos to Dave and Brenda for an exceptional wine tasting experience hosted by the hotel. David a Brenda were informative, friendly and professional. The rooftop facilities provided a fabulous view. The grotto pool was a treat. The entire staff is to be complimented for their friendly yet professional service. The location of the hotel could not have been any better. If I had any concern to note it would be the shower/tub in our room. Getting in and out for older clients could be a challenge and a safety concern that could be addressed with a remodel. Next time we will request a accessible room if available. We had a superior room that was clean, spaciousand nicely appointed. That said, one of our best hotel experiences... EVER.
