As a solo business traveler, I was pleasantly surprised by the AC Hotel Irla by Marriott in Barcelona. Located in a quiet, upscale neighborhood, it offers easy access to key business districts and attractions. The room was spotless and well-equipped, featuring amenities like a minibar, Nespresso machine, kettle, iron, and ironing board. High-speed internet and a TV ensured a comfortable stay. The bathroom, with its unique colored glass design, provided ample privacy— clearly some reviews to the contrary are not accustomed to European hotels. The breakfast buffet offered a variety of high-quality dishes. The staff were attentive and accommodating, making my stay both productive and enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for business travelers seeking comfort and convenience in Barcelona.

Not what we expected We booked this hotel as it is now part of the Marriott chain. The hotel faces a restaurant that is open until 2am or later with seating outside. We did not get a good nights sleep after a long flight. Garbage trucks and motorcycles etc could be heard all night passing in front of the hotel/our room. The breakfast area is quite small maybe six small tables. The selection of food amounts to an extremely small continental breakfast. We asked the second morning and were able to get eggs ordered. There is no sign to indicate this is even possible. Our recommendation is to stay at a regular Marriott.

Terrible. Room was dirty. Either pubes or old man hair all over comforter. Called front desk and all they offered was for me to change my own duvet cover. For $300 a night I am blown away I had to play maid. There is no skill in putting a clean duvet on a comforter so a front desk attendant could even do it. Left that night for a new hotel. I work in hospitality with Marriott and am blown away by this lack of professionalism.

Exceptional service from front desk and at breakfast. Very comfortable bed. Couldn't control the air conditioning temperature so room was cold, which was great for sleeping but not great during the day. The glass door for bathroom is bad if your want to use it at night, cannot turn light on without disturbing your partner. Shower was fantastic! Room very small. Could not get any English speaking channels on TV. A bit too pricey with the issues we had, but overall we enjoyed the stay very much.

We booked this hotel last minute. Like from the Barcelona airport last minute! Not having done any research I was worried. This worked perfectly. Close to restaurants. Close to public transportation which we relied on. Close to shopping. The room was on the smaller side but completely doable! Shower was set up oddly and small. Front desk staff we encountered (two people) were super helpful and had great recommendations for us. Would stay again!

Overall, the hotel wasn't bad. However, the rooms have a funky layout. The best way I can think to describe it is that the bathrooms were an afterthought. Almost like they built the room and then said "dang, we forgot to add a bathroom." The bathroom is a glass-walled area where the door doesn't even make a complete seal. If you're sharing a room with someone, you'll hear every sound and smell every scent going on in the bathroom. The glass is also frosted, so you can see everyone's outline in the bathroom. Since the room is so small, it's hard to not "be in the bathroom" with the person actual in the bathroom. There are no very many outlets in these rooms either. There's an outlet on one side of the bed and then there's one by the desk where the coffee maker is plugged in. You have two additional outlets in the bathroom. I came here for my Marriott loyalty but would probably pick somewhere else next time.
