Ibis Barcelona Centro (Sagrada Familia)

We arrived on August 1 around three in the morning. We requested 3 rooms for 5 nights (July 31 to August 5). On August 3, they told us that there was an error in the payment and that the workers that night forgot to charge one of the nights and that is why we had to pay €129 per room, although it was not our fault. When we asked about the price of the 3 rooms for 5 nights (on August 1), the person working that night told us that they were €663.44/room and not €792.44/room, which would be a decisive factor in our stay at this hotel. On August 4 we went to reception to better understand the problem. Neither the manager nor the owner were available to speak with us, but we spoke with two of the workers, one of which was the person that checked us in. They threatened to call the police if we did not pay the €129/per room and, in the end, we agreed with them to call the police. They didn't do it. Instead they supposedly called the manager on the phone. The manager agreed with us that the mistake was on their (Hotel Ibis) part and that we did not have to pay anything. The next day, we proceeded to check out peacefully, asked if there was anything else that was needed to do and the worker doing the check out said no.

Later that day, when we were at the airport, the worker who checked us in and the director of the Ibis Hotel called me saying that we had to pay €145.36/per room. We tried to ask about the price table and the regulations to which they responded that they did not have them, saying and I quote "if you pay for a pair of shoes there are no regulations on the prices".

They have given us until August 6 to pay a total amount of €436.08 or they would call the police for fraud.

It was completely a mistake on their part, they had no consideration for us and the way they approached us was not the most correct, almost making us feel like it was our fault. With an attitude that is always based on unfounded and disrespectful threats. They do not deserve any consideration from us.

I made a reservation at this hotel and due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to get to Barcelona to stay at the hotel. They still insisted on billing me for the full stay and rooms reserved which they did. I shared with them the reason I was not able to board the flight to Barcelona and they did not seem to care, no exceptions. The kept asking me to cancel the stay for the full price of the stay. I suppose they wanted to sell the rooms again. If you plan to stay at this place and for some emergency reason are unable to get Spain or the hotel, you will be charged the full cost of the rooms. So, consider your reservation 100% lost money. I have dealt with many other hotels and they are usually very understanding of emergencies coming up once in a blue moon either don't charge anything if you don't check in or they will just charge a reduced rate and sell the rooms to someone else if possible.
