Hotel SB Icaria

There is probably a reason this hotel is a tad cheaper than the rest.
I didn't get to experience the hotel because they cancelled my reservation a week before arrival. A reservation I did 1.5 months in advance.
According to them, I didn't prepay the first night with a link they sent me. I cannot find said link in my e-mail inbox nor in my spam folder, but whether or not this is true, I got no warning and wasn't contacted before they outright cancelled my reservation on a mail I did receive.

When I asked them to reactivate the reservation and send me a new link to prepay first night, I was told that I needed to make a new reservation that now costs around 200€ more.

Of principle I'll now find another hotel even more expensive than that or stay a bit outside the city.

I can see they sometimes say in here that the reviews are not for this hotel. In my case it definitely is and probably also at least the ones that has had the same story as me.

GARBAGE. Booked a room 10 days ago only to find out the cancelled my reservation over a €100 pre payment fee that wasn’t paid (which went to my junk email) put my credit card info in the booking. I have never had a hotel send a separate link to pay for a pre payment feee in my life. Found them on booking.com and I wanted to be a good customer so I booked direct. No call, no nothing just a junk email that it was cancelled. If I didn’t check my junk email I would have showed up in Barcelona with no booking. I have already booked several other stays around Spain with no such issues. Called 5 times and they told me to wait for the reservation line to be open (3:00am my time) after calling they simply told me I was out of luck and tried to rebook me for $500 more then my original booking. Dodged a bullet with this hotel. No communication and no understanding. 4 star hotel (ya right). SB HOTELS, will never be a customer.

Disappointing Honeymoon Experience – Definitely Not a 4-Star Hotel!

My husband and I booked a room for our honeymoon and requested one with a double bed. Apparently, none were available, so the reception staff offered us a larger room with a jacuzzi instead. Unfortunately, that “upgrade” turned out to be a big disappointment — the jacuzzi didn’t work at all and was completely broken. It was basically just there for decoration.

The bathroom was dirty, with lots of stains and an old, broken shower that didn’t function properly. The sink was constantly clogged, and the water wouldn’t drain.

This is absolutely not a 4-star hotel! When you pay €1,782, you expect comfort and proper service — not a nightmare like this. They completely ruined our honeymoon and left us half-washed for an entire week 😅🤦‍♀️

I really wouldn’t recommend anyone to spend extra money here.

The only positive thing was the location — a lovely area, just a 5–10 minute walk from the beach. Unfortunately, that’s the only good thing I can say about this place.

Rooms are okay, breakfast is good, you are provided with 2 water bottle on day 1, even though you stay for 4 nights with same price, clearly only 2 bottles. So you have to check out abd check in, marketing department? What a nice policy. On top there is no water spots for the guests to fill water.

My bad experience started with the reservation and it went only downhill from there.

When booking my stay, I was asked to send my card details by email to the hotel in order to secure my reservation. I was not comfortable doing that so I asked for a payment link. But they insisted on the card details by email... I should have looked for another hotel but instead I booked through an agency simply because the hotel is right next to our office.

Upon arrival I noticed straight away that the floor in the bathroom was flooded, the sink had a blocked drain and the safe was not working. I asked for these items to be fixed - after mansplaining to me how a plug works, the receptionist promised he'd get someone to fix it immediately. He did not.

I reminded them about these maintenance issues again the next day in the morning. And then again when I came back in the afternoon. When I returned again in the evening after dinner and the floor in the bathroom was still flooded, I asked for a new room.

So at 11:30pm I had to pack all my things and move to another room. I asked if someone could help me carry my things from one room to the other, and the answer was no, there's no one who can help. That's when there were 3 staff standing behind the reception desk and no guests that needed their assistance.

I addition to this very unpleasant experience, I'd like to add that the rooms facing the pool are extremely noisy as the outdoor seating area is open at all times and I was kept up by people talking loudly well after midnight.

The breakfast was very underwhelming, not a great choice of food, plus I waited forever for my cappuccino which, when it finally arrived, was generously sprinkled with cinnamon.

I strongly recommend to anyone to find a different hotel for their stay in Barcelona.
