Reviews
The only things that let the hotel down slightly are the bathrooms which are quite dated and have lots of loose fittings and also the rooms have absolutely no noise insulation so you can hear every single sound from both outside and inside the hotel. Now this isn’t the end of the world but did mean an interrupted sleep each night.
Other than that, great hotel right in the centre of Madrid and would recommend to tourists looking to explore.
First, despite choosing the "pay on arrival" option when booking, I was forced to pay upfront through the hotel’s own payment gateway, bypassing the platform I used to book. When I refused, I was threatened with immediate cancellation of my reservation.
Upon arrival, the room was dirty, and the key didn’t work. After requesting a replacement, the new key still didn’t work. I had no choice but to rely on hotel staff to open my room each time, which felt like a serious violation of my privacy.
When I raised these issues with the hotel, they refused to take responsibility and didn’t offer any resolution.
Overall, my experience was frustrating, uncomfortable, and far below expectations. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
I requested for a us to Europe travel adapter and the checkin male staff outrightly refused saying other guests have stolen that - at least make an attempt to check rather than dismissing the request. The other two nights that I stated, reception staff was very polite and went above and beyond to make us comfortable.
Location is perfect! Near enough to the touristy places and the local areas, all walking distance but still in a quiet area. The room view is the teatro. Spectacular. I couldn’t ask for a better view.
The room is good enough for the price, can’t expect much but there were a few pleasant surprises. They had lotion and conditioner as bathroom amenities, something a lot of hotels don’t do anymore as they combine shampoo and conditioner in one bottle. Hotel operators has it separate. Their body lotion is also quite good, no parabens and all.
They have USB ports.
The reception personnel are friendly and very helpful. A plus, definitely.
The room itself is furnished retro modern, quite nice but not what the website shows exactly.
The floor near the bed is warped and it waves up. They had renovations done but just touches like the wallpaper, paint, tiles, cabinets - all the important and visible parts. But other parts were a make do, and for their price, it’s ok. The hallway carpet and walls are dated but the room numbers in the door are fun.
Best part of this hotel is the location.
Also, echoing others’ concerns about the noise outside. We didn’t experience the worst of it but it definitely wasn’t great.
Be forewarned, the hotel is opposite a seedy "24-hour sauna", where the gentlemen of Madrid like to meet on a Saturday night and party hard. This "Sauna" will be busy with patrons until at least 7am in the morning.
Make sure, if possible you request a room away from the 2nd floor, as it is unbearable to sleep next to this noise. Cleaners also start very early on a Sunday (8.30am) and are extremely rambunctious and noisy together. The "sauna" , plus the loud cleaners is not a great sum, to allows guests a comfortable and full nights sleep.
Otherwise, it is an okay hotel. Definitely not 4 star standard, as it is tired. The rooms are as clean as you would expect, but don't expect 4-star quality, more akin to a 2 star.
The “Dear Hotel” around the corner is much better quality, with a rooftop pool, and was where we moved to in the end.
Our experience was not satisfactory, but the staff were nice people, although one feels they should have refunded our full stay (which unfortunately, they didn't). The hotel intimated that they would give a full refund, however only gave one night, which was highly unsatisfactory.
