Hotel Opera

Very nice clean hotel in a central part of Madrid next to the Opera and Metro station. The staff were very friendly and willing to help. The room we stayed in was very nice with a very comfortable bed and the breakfast was excellent. Overall a very comfortable stay.

The good:
Location is perfect! Near enough to the touristy places and the local areas, all walking distance but still in a quiet area. The room view is the teatro. Spectacular. I couldn’t ask for a better view.
The room is good enough for the price, can’t expect much but there were a few pleasant surprises. They had lotion and conditioner as bathroom amenities, something a lot of hotels don’t do anymore as they combine shampoo and conditioner in one bottle. Hotel operators has it separate. Their body lotion is also quite good, no parabens and all.

They have USB ports.

The reception personnel are friendly and very helpful. A plus, definitely.

The room itself is furnished retro modern, quite nice but not what the website shows exactly.

The floor near the bed is warped and it waves up. They had renovations done but just touches like the wallpaper, paint, tiles, cabinets - all the important and visible parts. But other parts were a make do, and for their price, it’s ok. The hallway carpet and walls are dated but the room numbers in the door are fun.

Best part of this hotel is the location.

The location is great, about ~2 minute walk to a metro stop, ~5 minute walk to the Palacio Real, ~10 minute walk to the Gran Via. It's centrally located but at the same time, since it's not off the Gran Via itself it's neighborhood noise is a lot less at night. The rooms are clean and very comfortable- would definitely stay here again.

The room was very nice, though we did notice some dirt on the floors and stains on towels and sheets. I think for the most part, this hotel just needs a revamp, but it was worth it as we were just a few minutes walk to the royal palace.

Also, echoing others’ concerns about the noise outside. We didn’t experience the worst of it but it definitely wasn’t great.

Very conveniently placed in middle of everything, very quiet though. The Cafe from the ground floor is an ideal alternative for those wanting a quick byte before leaving the hotel. One of the four stars is somehow related to the "strategic" location but that's an asset.

Hotel Opera was a great find. Nestled just steps away from Teatro Real and the Palacio Real de Madrid. I booked a stay for 5 nights at a great rate in their Individual room and it was completely adequate for a solo traveler. Minibar was stocked well which I ravaged throughout my stay. The hotel restaurant/cafe was great for a quick bite or a good ole tinto de verano. The breakfast included was okay, but honestly not a morning person and only made it once. Would highly recommend this hotel for its easy convenience walking distance to main areas like Sol and Chueca.

Great hotel! Location is in the corner of a quiet street but in the heart of the city. The Royal Palace is down the street, along with many stores, cafes/restaurants, & Opera metro a few seconds walk away! McDonald's and Burger King down the street too. Took the metro from airport to hotel round trip, about a 20 min commute but very easy and safe. We walked to majority of Madrid's attractions. In about a quick 10 min walk, you'll be in Puerto del sol & Gran Via! The hotel had our room available at noon; friendly and helpful staff. Candy and water in lobby. Room was spacious for two adults and one child. We had a twin room which consisted of two twin beds pushed together, making it bigger than a king size.

There was a mini bar in room, flat screen tv, amenities (toothbrushes/toothpaste, comb, tissues, shampoo, shower gel, and razor!). Fast wifi. Nice modern shower, two shower heads including a rain shower. Iron and ironing board available upon request. Walls seemed thin as we heard neighbors at times but not bothersome. Air conditioning was superb - each room is equipped with its own thermostat and we kept our room at around 65 deg daily; felt nice to come to a cold room after a hot day! Our room was cleaned daily and towels changed. This hotel is perfect in every way and can't get a better deal. Didn't eat breakfast at hotel as there were plenty of options nearby!

Great location and a good breakfast. Poorly insulated rooms make the place noisy however. The airconditioning was great to keep us cool. Beds were very comfortable as were the rooms.
