Best Da Vinci Hotel in Salou

Overall a normal hotel, but my room was old and in need of renovation, although it was clean, thanks to the cleaning service. The room was on the first floor overlooking a quiet street, it was always dark and quiet inside, although the lack of sun made me sad. The location of the hotel is good, there are shops, restaurants, pharmacies, a beach nearby. The staff is friendly, but it is a little difficult to communicate with the staff in the canteen, since almost no one understands English. The food in the canteen was normal, especially dinner, very tasty desserts. Unfortunately there is no oatmeal for breakfast. Overall not a bad place for a short stay

Normally people write the reviews after they have finished the stay, which means it doesn't give an opportunity to hotel management to correct or avoid the issues. I am on Full Board, Corner room 547.

Completed 24 hours of a hotel stay and here is my review of Day 1 :

- Good Location, near to beach and shopping + restaurants.

- Neat and clean reception, entrance, lobbys and sitting hall.

- Entertainment : None

- Food : AVOID AVOID AVOID
I read couple of reviews of hit and miss, however I would say, the food is tasteless, no food variety as expected from full board 4 star. Breakfast is ok( no fresh juice though), however lunch and dinner are repetitive with 60-70% of food remains the same. Today, they kept the chicken tikka masala in lunch which was served last night.

Even the salad is not fresh, they kept tinned carrots, tinned corns, tinned beetroot, tinned onions and there is no humus or salad sauces.

Pizza : Looks like they are using pizza base rather than a fresh pizza dough. only 1-2 pizza variety.

Every thing which is fried, is fried in a same oil, which means there is some kind of smell in everything and it is not giving a good taste. We struggled to eat chips and wedges, which is something very basic and we don't expect it to go wrong. We felt bloated and stomach ache with food.

Fish -sour taste, I am not sure why it is so.

Desserts : repetitive with very less variety.

WATER : TO MY SURPRISE, WATER IS CHARGEABLE IN THIS FULL BOARD HOTEL WHICH COST €2.40 PER 1 LITRE BOTTLE.

WHEN WE FIRST ENTERED INTO THE RESTAURANT, THEY OFFERED US A TABLE AND ASKED FOR DRINKS. NO ONE TOLD US THAT EVEN WATER IS CHARGEABLE IN FULL BOARD. THIS IS SOMETHING VERY NEW AND CRAZY AND SEEMS LIKE A MINTING MONEY FORMULA OF THIS HOTEL.

Restaurant : Waiter is directing people to sit on specific table only, which is very annoying.

Courtsey : In general, courtsey is missing from the reception and restaurant staff. As per some other reviews, it feels bit dull and rude from the staff and spoils the holiday spirit.

Room : Ok size rooms, even though I have been told that it is upgraded. I must say that balcony size is quite big but not of any use.
No exhaust in bathrooms.

Cutlery in Room : Again something very strange. We have been provided glass, cups and plates, but they neither replace it with fresh, and no washing liquid has been provided to wash them. When asked, reception you have to buy the washing liquid. This not a standard practice on 4 star hotels, How are we supposed to know that cutlery won't be replaced or cleaned, instead we have to buy washing liquid to clean it.

Wifi : Non existent in rooms.

Spanish only : No english speaking staff. Even though this is a international hotel, it is serving very spanish and french oriented food and everything is written in spanish. English speakers are not welcome here.

I hope someone from management should look at day 1 review, otherwise this review would represent how poor the management is and what to expect from the BEST HOTELS.

Overall Review :
1. Good and friendly houskeeping staff and some of the people working in dinner hall.
2. Can't go wrong with the location of this hotel.
3. Food was improved after day 1 review. We could see difference in chips and fries. Food is repeatative with same food is served in dinner and lunch. It is better to avoid lunch here.
Some of the sea food ( prawns, mussels) during dinner time was great.
4. Rooms are ok, but bathrooms are not great. Even after opening the window, bathrooms don't ventilate and smell remains.
5. No Games room or internal heated pools - we were stuck for 2 days due to rain, with nothing available to do in hotel.
6.All the Entertainment is in Spanish.
