Aquarium View Hotel

I booked a stay at this hotel on 10 June this year through hotels.com, with a stay from 28 June. As always when booking, I took a screenshot of the offer.

However, I never received a booking confirmation email. At the time of booking I was in Rhodes, so a few days later I visited the hotel to check if I had a valid booking. Spoke to a man at reception, who seemed uninterested in my inquiry. He checked on the computer, but said there was no reservation. Furthermore, I asked him to check the dates in question, but he did not find the reservation. Finally, I asked him to check my name, where he once again repeated that there was no reservation. I asked one last time if I could trust this, which he confirmed. I wanted to stay at this hotel, which unfortunately meant that I had to find another hotel option.

Three weeks later, when I was in Rhodes, I saw that my credit card had been charged from the aquarium view hotel. This had to be wrong, so I went down to the hotel. It was the same person at reception and the first thing I asked him was if he remembered me. He confirmed this, and asked what he could help me with. When I told him that I was wrongly charged for the stay and asked him to clear this up, he went behind a glass wall in reception. He returned a few minutes later, denying that he had checked the reservation a few weeks earlier. He further said that he did not work that day, he had certainly not been at work all that week. He did this while smiling falsely.

I went back to the aquamare hotel the next day, and got to speak to the manager of the reservation department. The person claimed this was a "no show" and could not reverse payment. Tried to get her to understand that the employee at the reception had given me the wrong information, but I didn't get the impression that she took the matter seriously. She then claimed that I should know that the reception has nothing to do with the reservation. But how can I know, as the staff member at the reception was clearly not aware of this....

She promised to check the matter and contact me. Heard no more from her. I later tried to contact her by phone, but she never returned my calls.

A hotel with a reception employee who tells lies, and a head of the reservation department who is untidy and arrogant. Definitely not my choice of hotel again!
