Great Stay at Grand Hotel Salerno
I recently stayed at Grand Hotel Salerno and overall had a very pleasant experience. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, and I especially want to highlight the housekeeping team, who were exceptionally polite and attentive — truly outstanding service.
Breakfast
The breakfast was good and enjoyable, but it could have been a bit more varied and refined, especially for a hotel that presents itself as a four-star establishment. A few more high-quality options would elevate the experience.
Excellent Luggage Storage Service
One of the best features of this hotel is the free luggage storage both before check-in and after check-out. This was incredibly helpful and allowed us to enjoy our last day in Salerno without any stress.
Overall, I’m happy to give 4 stars — with a bit of improvement in breakfast variety, it could easily reach 5!

Beautiful ocean view from the room terrace! The room was spacious and clean. The sound of the waves was relaxing at night. It is walking distance to the marina where we took the ferry going to Amalfi. Very convenient place to stay when visiting Amalfi.

The hotel is advertised as a 4 star hotel which is definitely not the case. The rooms lack basic amenities like an iron (which you have to request from room service when they start their day at 8 am each day). The AC is centrally controlled which means even though you can lower the temperature (kind of), the room is always hot and humid. We had to request the front desk each day to lower the temperature in our room but that also didn’t bring the temperature any lower. The telephone provided in the room was not labelled so we had to call the reception from our personal phone and ask how to reach the reception through the telephone.
The hallways are humid and dingy with strong smells. Though the hotel is located facing the sea, our room was towards the back of the hotel facing a dark parking lot.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We came here especially for the spa/pool that is advertised on several booking sites, but there is no such a thing. The rooms are spacious, if a little outdated. The area is also quite run-down: to get to the bus stop, you need to pass by skaters that seem to be drugged, cross a road on a crosswalk that is ignored by the motorists, and go through a long dark tunnel under the railroad and then up a hill. The near-by river is full of trash, the next-door fountain is dry, the tiny beach costs entrance fees and is not accessible from the hotel. Breakfast is mostly sweet pastry, no proper wholewheat bread. At least there are some vegan options, but only sweet stuff. It’s close to the railway station, but walking from there you need to pass through roads that smell like pee at every corner.
All in all disappointing and not worthy of 4 stars. 3 at best.

At least they had ice! You have to ask for it at bar. Rooms were hot - everyone in our group complained that the A/C didn't work so great. I don't know if it was too small (or old) of a unit or if they try to save money by keeping it warm. Nice facilities. Breakfast had a lot of options but nothing warm - no eggs, sausage, bacon etc - just pastries and fruit and yogurt.

No AC when the temperature is low outdoors, but the room is stuffy. Room design is super out-dated, wifi is not guaranteed for all rooms. Overall, it's not a 4-star hotel standard at all.

It's a 10-minute walk from the train station. The room is quite big, the balcony has a sea view, and it's also close to the city. The breakfast is OK. For Italy, this hotel has a very good environment.

Very close to travelmar ferry, you can walk. Otherwise not much around. Older hotel but very big room, 3 beds, two twin one king
