Hotel Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, Venice

I would say it is a 7 * hotel. The attention to detail is astonishing- drinks on arrival,fresh flowers, fruit, little cushion matt on the floor to step on by your bed…

The staff is very professional and helpful, concierge organised all our activities on requests, which we really enjoyed.
Everything about this place is great-rooms, views, gardens, wellness, pool, location, food, restaurants, the cloud like pillows, toiletries …

A little note for the customers: all restaurants in the hotel have a dress up code which we were not aware of. Only travelling light, no long trousers, just linen formal shorts, which are not allowed. It’s far too hot for us English to wear long trousers in 40*C :). Perhaps the Cipriani should consider the formal dress code only in the Michelin star restaurant.

Sadly we found the hotel quite disappointing. The hotel needs a large overhaul, investment and a fresh pair of eyes. The super famous hotel has lost her way, and with it her iconic identity.

The hotel reminds me a bit of The Belmond Mount Nelson in Cape Town a few years ago before Tiago Sarmento took over as GM. Its trying to cater for too many peoples tastes. Some areas like rooms and gardens are just retaining their olde worlde charm and other bits like the silly glitzy, almost shopping mall area, are out of place.

There is a lacking attention to detail. We had dirty cups left in our room after turn down, Cip’s and poolside service was not up to scratch. We had to top up our own wine repeatedly and constantly ask for more water. The pool bar in the evening was empty while we were there, as its has no ambience. There is no historic original hotel bar. That being said, breakfast service was excellent and a nice part of the hotel.

So all in all we would probably seek out a different hotel for our next stay. We hope that Cipriani can regain its original glamour in the future.

Just had breakfast on a few occasions at the Cipriani and toured the property. It is totally spectacular and well worth a visit. The service, ambience and food are all a dream. Very well-trained, hospitable and genuine staff.

The Belmond Hotel Cipriani effortlessly marries comfort, accessibility, and a genuine Venetian experience, making our stay nothing short of magical. It’s a five-star retreat that promises a memorable sojourn in the heart of Venice.

Outstanding service, great location — quiet while still being right where you need to be and the boat trip across the canal is a delight, great bar and pool service. Overall the service was top notch. We had a 10pm flight and both had unavoidable work calls to take and they gave us a smaller room to use until 7pm even though checkout was obviously midday.

They were so lovely with our son as well. The boat captain showed him around and let him sit in the captain seat. The bartender taught him how to ask for a bellini for me and a juice for himself (after seeing our usual drinks), it was just so cute, I have a great video of a 5 year old ordering cocktails with the confidence of James Bond: “I’d like an apple juice please and the lady will have a bellini.”

Pool service is formal with gloves (much like the Belmond Grand Timeo (our very fav hotel) Old world service and charm coupled with well preserved scenes from years past are what make all of the Belmond hotels so unique and wonderful.

It’s a special place, and I consider myself very lucky to have had the chance to stay at Cipriani. The price is heart attack inducing, but it does appreciate that for most people it’s a treat and they work very hard (and effectively) to provide an outstanding level of service and great memories.

Very private, away from all the tourists in San Marco. Beautiful pool, fantastic service staffs, wide selection of liquor/ mixed drinks. Beautiful gardens and excellent restaurants selection.
