HM Grand Central Hotel

Excellent location in an area that felt safe and close to the action. The room was fairly clean but the mattress liner was pre stained. BIG YUK! The staff is horrible. The check in and check out were tideous and done right rude. They tied to blame me for a stained bathroom floor mat. I will not return to this hotel as the leadership is poor. Fix your pee stained mattress liners then try and hold me accountable for a stained bath mat.

DO NOT CHOSE THIS PLACE!! The hotel is DECEIVING its customers. We made a reservation for 2 people through Booking. Even though it was written in the reservation that we were entitled to one massage PER PERSON, they said that only one of us could benefit from the massage. Even though we met with different officials many times and showed the information text on Booking, the situation did not change. On the contrary, we were exposed to the rather rude behavior of the employee at the reception. We wanted to talk to the authorized person, but they said there was no one. When we suggested that they correct the information to avoid misunderstanding, the receptionist literally shouted at us. We have stayed in approximately 40 hotels all this time, I do not easily write negative comments about hotels, but we wanted to write this because of the bad incident we experienced. We chose this hotel even though it was more expensive than its counterparts because our reservation included a massage, but we definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND it due to both their failure to give us what we deserve and their disrespectful and rude attitude.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS, We booked and paid for two nights to stay here - on arrival the receptionist told us we had breakfast included and showed us were to go in the morning, we then went to breakfast in the morning (not a breakfast person) so we only went because we were told that it was included.

Half way through eating our breakfast, a staff member comes over and tell us we have to pay extra for the breakfast. To our surprise (why they didn’t tell us or make sure they provided the correct information to their clients) we asked to speak to a manager, we went to our room quickly got ready for the day and then we waited in the reception for over 25 minutes for 4/5 staff members standing at the desk - also behaving as though we were criminals. I was staying with my elderly mother, who has been travelling round with me.

We have stayed at 15 hotels over the last few weeks and never have we been treated in this manner. Whilst getting ready they harassed us calling our room phone, three times saying they needed us to sign something and said they will come up to our room, after we had already explained we would be down shortly.

After being told we were lying and that we definitely not entitled to breakfast by the member of staff that didn’t check us in, we reluctantly offered to pay.

Following another 10 minutes waiting, we decided we really needed to get on with our day and one of the 5 members of staff said you come back later.

Bearing in mind we had fully paid for our room and paid a $50 deposit - on our return to the hotel after a full day exploring Phnom Penh we returned to find our room had not been made and after having a shower, we received another phone call from reception telling us we had to leave and find somewhere else to stay!!!!!

So late at night we were packing and trying to find an alternative accommodation.

Absolutely disgusting and I can say I have stayed in many hotels with work as a professional and for pleasure and I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER been treated like this. They truly behaved as if we were criminals.

This was extremely distressing for myself and my mother and completely outrageous.

We are yet to receive our deposit back and we paid for 2 nights to stay - please do not stay here! The staff members actually laughed as my mother left in tears….

The biggest Problem in this Hotel is the staff. They are definitely not working customer friendly, which I expect in a Hotel. They act very rude and unfriendly, don't fix any problems. The Sauna, which was the reason for my booking, opens only from 3pm-8pm and is not switched on until you ask. They limit the temperature to 70 degree to safe electricity.
When I went for lunch to the restaurant, I felt like they want me to leave again as I was the only customer.
Do not go here.

I normally do not write reviews, but this place is unacceptable. I felt the staff was extremely cold and didn’t want to be bothered. Guests should not feel as if they are an imposition at all. I guess you really do get what you pay for. The jokes on us sadly. The rooms were less than adequate: AC barely does its job in 100° temperatures, the water is scalding hot even when it’s in the cold position, you’re nickeled and dimed even for a simple glass of tap water… don’t ask for ice god forbid. It’s just a mess.
