Reviews
We arrived for a 4 night stay and our first impression was that the hotel has an inviting frontage with an element of class to the reception and foyer. The room was spacious, with a balcony view over the pool area.
Perhaps it was because we visited out of season (Mid November) but we noted the following: the room decor was tired with repairs needed to walls, the bathroom door surround, a dripping tap and a faulty sink plug. A kettle and two cups/saucers were present but no tea, coffee, sugar or spoons. When we called down to reception we were told tea, coffee and sugar was not provided and they “don’t have spoons”. The hotel corridors were also extremely noisy, up to 11pm. The hotel allows groups of students to stay and they were constantly slamming doors and shouting. We stayed for B&B only but the food on offer was of a very cheap quality. A wall was being knocked down next to the pool which add to the noise.
Overall we found the staff service to be adequate. A couple of days we arrived back to find our room not made up and on one occasion the dirty towels had not been replaced. It took 90 mins to get a new set after a call to reception. We also had a couple of washing flannels we brought with us “removed” from the room. We spoke to reception about all these issues but nothing was done.
I’ve no doubt others have had a very enjoyable stay at the Bella Vista, thankfully for us we were in Malta to see the island and not to hang around the hotel all day.
I made my booking yesterday evening and because I add special offers Booking changed my dates without me realising that. The booking was actually non-refundable, but I was not thinking to ask for refund anyway, what I didn’t expect was the dates of my booking were changed by the system.
My husband called the hotel this morning and the lady said we had to talk to Booking, so I did. They told me they understood perfectly my point and they were more than happy to give me my money back, however the hotel refused to do so.
The lady said they followed the policy, my booking is not refundable, I cancelled the booking so now nothing can be done.
For someone working on customer service for many years this is rubbish and a very poor management.
So imagine if something happens there with this inflexibility. I can’t even imagine with this terrible empathy if you have a problem there with them. Definitely not recommended, we even told her it would be my husband’s birthday, it’s Christmas, we are just workers who have been working super hard to get these holidays and now ended up with our budget massively reduced. But obviously they just care about money in their pockets. Hopefully life gives the same courtesy to them.
Loved the restaurant manager Ana, and all the staff that served here
Servings were all huge portions. For sustainability just get what you can. Very close to the beach, saline salt parks.
Rooms were average but with regular changing of towels.
Good and affordable place to stay.
The chocolate ice cream is love!!!
The conference center is also very conducive to learning.
It's a very busy spot during that time of the year. Don't think about a chilled night, in your room, before eventually midnight. Banging doors, shouting, kids playing soccer on the floor in front of your room. Mating youths at the same place, music, shouting.
The resort could be a bit more decisive to a calm environment close to the rooms. Rude kids around from some eastern destinations.
Anything else very good! Facilities great, breakfasts great, location great for holidays (which unfortunately wasn't me).
I would go there anytime again, except during any school holidays anywhere in Europe;-)
After staying here for a week I can only say my distaste for this hotel has grown. Unfortunately I am here for two weeks monitoring a youth group. This hotel appears to cater to that, as there are at least 4 other youth programs all here at the same time. If I were a normal family/couple trying to book here I would be exceptionally annoyed by the amount of children running, screaming, yelling and simply taking over the facility.
We had to be switched to a different room after a week as the air conditioning randomly stopped working. When I brought the issue to reception, they got mad at me for not mentioning it sooner…
Then were unable to fix it and in the process shut off the power to multiple rooms in the middle of the night.
Housekeeping will come in the room at any time of day even if you are in there. While taking a nap housekeeping came in without knocking at threw towels on the bed where I was sleeping.
This morning housekeeping knocked at 8:45 and after replying no please don’t come in, they proceeded to open the door and come in anyway. Did not leave until we loudly exclaimed for them to go away.
I cannot explain how terrible this place is. Even with this lengthy review I have not mentioned all the terrible things we’ve experienced. Oh, and the toilet only flushes once an hour, if you have multiple people, you have to open the back of the toilet and push the ball down to manually fill the tank, and it still won’t always work. Disgusting.
*ORIGINAL REVIEW*
Yucky. Absolutely atrocious. In a scary rundown part of town, felt very unsafe.
You can feel every spring in the bed. The food is served buffet style, and it’s all just repeats from the day before with no flavor. There were bugs in the couscous. Cockroaches in the rooms. Ants in the rooms!
Water damaged ceilings. The housekeeping staff would consistently move our things and throw away stuff they deemed trash (my collectibles!)
Came in while I was napping and threw towels at me.
Mean staff, except for Oksana and Agnes. Stuffy staircase, haunted and ill working elevator. Simply cannot tell you enough how TERRIBLE this experience was. DO NOT BOOK.
As in a 4-star hotel, I was expecting to find soap, toothpaste and shampoo in the bathroom, but was not the case. There was shower gel at least.
The food was fine, but not how you would expect from a 4-star hotel. The staff- very friendly and helpful, and also it’s great that they have a small shop inside the hotel so you don’t need to worry about carrying your water or other items. So I could buy toothpaste and shampoo from their shop!
All in all, it was fine, but definitely not a 4-star hotel.
The mattresses in our room were very old and lumpy with worn out springs. My major health concern was when my daughter and I was bitten by the bed bugs yes the bed bugs.
There was a kettle in the room but the tea and coffee was not replenished so what was the point. We didn’t use air conditioning so cannot comment. There wasn't any ventilation fan in the bathroom and the door handle was broken off. It was only replaced when my daughter was locked inside and couldn’t open the door.
Our room was facing back street, so couldn’t sleep with the balcony door open due to noisy vehicles.
The tap water isn't drinkable and normally at 4-star hotels you would get complimentary bottles of water.
In my view the ”restaurant” had too many waiters. Bear in mind the buffet was served by waiters so had to ask them every time. The language barrier was very noticeable at least they were trying their best. The other downside was that waiters were collecting plates way too quick, literally as soon as you put the last meal in your mouth.
The breakfast was seriously lacking variety, exact same options for 5 days. The dinner was delicious and different every day, so thanks to the chef.
The all inclusive bar is only included with local brand beverages. If you ask for a drink you will only get 0.25ml as a single shot and 0.50ml for a double shot. Can’t have more than one drink at the time.
We sadly felt like we made the wrong choice. Would I recommend this Hotel ? Absolutely Not.
