Hilton Malta

We were two adults and two 6ft teenagers advised to book a family room. Upon arrival we found that the beds were tiny and suited to small children. No support from the hotel to upgrade to larger beds or bigger room. Room was meant to be a family room but only had two chairs, the mini bar was full of the hotels items and had a small 6inch area to store your own items which is not ideal when you have children. Carpets are threadbare, head boards marked, wall displays and skirting boards around the hotel broken
All the food in the hotel was cold, even the items that were meant to be hot. No choice for teenagers, just caters for toddlers who are able to help themselves to the buffet which you can imagine the state of it. We were half board but had to eat out in the local restaurants all four nights we stayed as the children refused to eat anything and I don’t blame them.
I had a live slug in my salad on the final night and when I showed this to the staff they didn’t remove the plate of rocket from the buffet, they just gave us free drinks. (Drinks arn’t included in your halfboard meal, not even water)
The swimming pools were not being used as they were freezing cold and the infinity pool had a scratched plastic barrier around it overlooking a building site. Not the view out to the sea as shown in the photos
The indoor pool was tiny and overcrowded and closed at 7 for children
The (Fresh) herbs in the cocktail bar were sitting in stagnant filthy water with flies all over them. I pointed this out to the manager and it was still there two days later
It was not the relaxing break we had hoped for. We came away feeling tired and run down and glad to be going home. Not the 5 star experience we had hoped for
