We booked this hotel after reading their reviews. Nothing like what we hoped for. The hotel is being renovated whilst you are there. Air cons are so noisy that you can barely get any sleep at night. Damaged fixtures all around. From lights that barely work to leaking shower head. The bathroom is mouldy and not fit for purpose. When you are having a shower, on the ground floor, there is no what pressure, TV is ancient and doesn't work at all, when we asked them to look at it we were informedthat there is no aeria, fridge in the room is cooler and you cant keep any food in it or have copd drinks in your room, during 8 days stay our bedding never got changed...... too many negative points to mention. We even got locked out of the hotel as the receptionist decided to go upstairs and lock the door and again, not even a doorbell to use. There is no free breakfast either. Regarding service, without naming anyone, you'll see 3 receptionists, and some are at least trying to help, and others couldn't care less.

Price and performance wise its good. Honest business, Owners are trying to improve the hotel.

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was quite disappointing. The room I was given felt more like a basement than a proper hotel room. It was located below the building, near the fuel storage area, warehouse, and laundry room, which raised serious health and safety concerns. There was no natural sunlight entering the room, making it feel dark and unpleasant.
Several amenities were not functioning: the in-room telephone didn’t work, the refrigerator was completely out of order, and the air conditioning unit was highly unreliable—it would turn on and off randomly, with no way to control it, even after contacting the staff.
Hot water was not consistently available, which made basic hygiene uncomfortable at times.
On a positive note, the staff were polite and respectful, but unfortunately, the overall quality of service was well below expectations. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

We stayed here for 4 nights during our visit to Istanbul, because my partner had stayed here for work on 2 occasions prior to Covid. My partner and I were quite disappointed, as the hotel was a bit run down since his last visit in 2018. Our room, ensuite and its furnishings were in need of some love, and a small breakfast was no longer provided. The location is quite good, shortish walk to sights. The building is beautiful. There appear to be alot of similar small family run hotels in this area. Hopefully soon they will have the means to give them the TLC they need and deserve. Small note ; there is no elevator.

An excellent stay with exceptional service!
The hotel was perfect with very polite staff and an ideal location, as everything was within walking distance. My three friends and I had an amazing time, and we would definitely choose to stay here again. A special thank you to Faruk 😊 for going above and beyond to assist us during our stay – it truly made our experience unforgettable. Highly recommend!

On Arrival I was treated extremely well , in my first time in Istanbul the concierge gave me a helpful guide with lots of advice on local sightseeing, places of interest and lots of helpful tips in general . It is quaint and needing some maintenance Jon bits and pieces , I think for the cost in the position it is excellent value for money ! So much so I am returning to end my fabulous Turkish whirlwind trip back at the Basileus Hotel Istanbul , Istanbul. Note.: Be aware there are similar named hotels around here so be sure to arrange transportation if booking in unaware of area !!

The beds were so hard that we struggled to sleep. If you have back issues please be conscious of this. In our room we had a bed consisting of two single beds pushed together but the blanket was not large enough to cover this so we couldn't actually use the whole bed, only the centre 70%. There were unfortunately no extra blankets available from reception to help with this and there were no extra pillows either.
We checked out early after two nights as the soreness in our backs grew too much. Fortunately the reception only charged us for the two nights instead of the intended five. I'm very appreciative of that.
The location is within walking distance but you need to walk up a steep hill to get to most of the sites nearby and the public transport. The hotel feels like it is in need of modernisation, but one always expects that for a hotel at this price point.

We stayed here 10 years ago and were disappointed on our return. I killed 2 roaches in our room. There was a hole in the ceiling where there had been a leak. The drain in the floor appeared to back up. That said the location was excellent and the staff was helpful.

Good quality per price ratio as we paid 22€pp/night.
Not the best place if you need silence during the night or if you want a classy Hotel. It's a honest 3stars accomodation near Soultanhamet at fair price. 5 stars becausa the reception guys are super friendly and ready to help for advice about the city
