Mina Hotel - Special Category

We recommend this hotel for those who only consider its location, and will not stay for a long time! Location-wise, it's located in a good place

When we entered this hotel room, first the refrigerator didn't work. It looked like someone intentionally unplugged the refrigerator! (Anyway the water we brought wasn't kept cool! 😕) What we were particularly unsatisfied with was that when we took a shower, the drain didn't work so we had to take a shower with a lot of dirty water! :/

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights on my honeymoon. My husband booked the best room in the hotel which was listed to have a fully functioning jacuzzi as well as Wi-Fi and a TV in the actual room. This room was the most expensive room in the hotel and was an absolute waste of money! From the day we got there the Wi-Fi was not working and we had to buy an eSIM to use any of our devices! Wi-Fi is standard nowadays and they couldn’t even provide that!

The jacuzzi takes around 30 mins to fill up and only after it’s entirely full we could turn on the jets. After waiting for it to fill up we turned on the jets to black chunky bites of dirt flying out and an atrocious sewage smell. We asked the manager and head of housekeeping to have a look and they said it had been fixed on the second day so we tried again on the second night but faced the same issue. The hotel manager advised us to fill up the jacuzzi and drain it multiple times throughout the night/day for the pipes to clear out the dirt. This was our honeymoon and we couldn’t stay at the hotel and repeat this all day. At the end of the stay, we had used the overpriced jacuzzi a whopping number of zero times!

Although the staff were nice this hotel was to a poor standard and could not provide basic standards of care! The bedding was ripped and dirty as well as the TV not functioning. Each day we would complain to the manager and each day the manager said it was now fixed but it wasn’t!

The best thing the manager could offer us as compensation was a free ride to the airport which cost around 40 EUROs when the hotel room we paid for was over 600 POUNDS!

I do not recommend this hotel to anyone as it was a waste of money and the hotel didn’t have the basic requirements listed on their page!

I spoke to the hotel manager Ali today and he offered to give me a discount on my next stay at the hotel. I replied that l don’t plan on staying at this hotel again so some sort of refund would be better. Ali refused and went on to accuse me and my husband of doing something to the jacuzzi as other customers didn’t not have the same issue. We showed him the issues in person while staying at the hotel and he said it was the pipes of Istanbul and we have to flush them out so for him to accuse us now is really disrespectful! He was rude and arrogant on the phone and if this is the service he provides I would definitely recommend not staying here as the hotels in the area are so much better!
