Blue Moon Hotel

Dec 29-31, 2021 stay with Blue Moon. Half of the hotel is currently under construction. They have bikes for use, beach towels and chairs at the beach which is nice ($20 for umbrella day rental). The place is a block off the beach and it is close to all the restaurants, bars, etc. The rooms are outdated and a little worn but you get what you pay for. They have dining and a bar downstairs, but we never chose to use it as there are many other options on the boardwalk. The pool area and pool itself are small. The pool doesn’t get any sun nor are there are chairs which you can lay out on, so if that was a selling point, I would keep looking. We came back from dinner and our room keys didn’t work on our second night. We booked our hotel through the hotels tonight website and the employee at the desk said Don had checked us out already and we would need to find another place to stay. This is at 10pm in the evening. We had already paid for two nights and signed the agreement when we arrived, but apparently this gentleman didn’t care because what the computer was telling him was that we were checked out. After negotiating with an obviously incompetent employee, he made a phone call to someone with some customer service knowledge and re-issued us our room keys. I typically don’t waste my time writing reviews on bad experiences but this warranted my time.

My husband and I booked 2 nights 2 weeks prior on check in day we were told the hotel was over booked they sent us 30 blocks away at there sister hotel. We chose the hotel for the location we now had to pay 52.00 a night extra for valet parking and had to drive all the way back to south beach each day and park again. I sent many emails and made many phone calls to see if the blue moon would pick up the tab for this major inconvenience. Jan Paul the manager never responded to any this so I tried the GM John Perez again no response. They both are useless when it comes to customer service. The person who is charge of both of them should rethink who he has running the hotel.
